2000 taurus wagon_could a speed sensor problem cause an intermittent crunching and pulsing feeling in the brake pedal? (brake pads, e-cable and rotors are not the source).Speed doesn't seem to matter...when it happens, it feels and sounds dangerous..does it in both forward and reverse.. but if I let off the brake and depress it again, its ok., gone, until it happens again! Your abs system runs off the speed sensors. but if you have a bad one your abs light should have come on. you may have to have your abs system bled. this is best done with a computer

If it does this in the slippery weather , then that is a normal brake feed back. The light should not stay on. If it does it may be the sensor. Take it in to your mechanic.
Is your ABS working properly? Under heavy braking the ABS should engage and 'pulse' the brakes on/off. It is normal to feel the brake petal flutter or pulse under your foot.
Under light braking there should be no pulsing as the ABS does not engage and you have changed the rotors and pads.
Hey man The ABS light is most likely a speed sensor out of range. It will not effect normal braking function. You have already spent a ton of money. Chasing an ABS light fault is not cost effective and you wont feel the difference. ABS problems are a dealer only option(expensive). Take that ABS bulb out of the dash and forget about it.
Hi.If your brake pedal seems to pulse.This is probubly the abs cutting in due to afaulty wheel speed sensor. Because the sensor is not working correctly. the system thinks theres a skid situation. it thinks one wheel is stopping faster than the other and ABS system automaticly puts brakes on and off many times a second hense the pedal pulsing. The car will need to be pluged into a code reader to find out which sensor is faulty.
The renault`s had aproblem with rear ABS sensor ring. This is the part which is on the roting part of the hub, sometimes they are a segmented ring and they also use a magnetic ring

pulsing indicates warpage, is if felt in the steering wheel or the brake pedal? did you do front and rears?
is it drum or all wheel disc brakes?
Yes, a loose caliper could cause pulsing brake pedal.
I guess it's possible for malfunctioning ABS sensors to cause this problem. If the sensor is sending a false signal that the wheels may be locking, the brakes would start "pumping".
Ok, if the wheel bearing assembly was installed incorrectly the wheel would wobble and you would have a disconcerting feeling in the steering wheel. The rotors have to be within factory specs to be turned safely. What I would do is have the rotors checked with a micrometer and replaced.
