Hi i have 2000 5.3 ltre v8 chevy tahoe and i went to check my oil and it smelled like gas i checked the color of the oil and its normal and my coolant is normal i also checked the inside of the oil cap and it had this puss like color very light green yellow and redlike color anybody no whats wrong??? it runs and drives fine no smoke or anything
If the oil smells like gas, you should change it immediately.
Check fuel pressure and verify that it is where it should be.(55-62 psi). Wait 10 minutes check pressure drop. A fuel system that drops more than 34 kPa (5 psi) in 10 minutes has a leak, in your case it may be through an injector .
The sludge that accululates around your oil cap is indicative of coolant in the oil, this can be caused by a bad head gasket, intake gasket or cracked cylinder head.
Clean it off and see how long it takes to come back, a little accumulation is nothing to worry about.
Check your pvc valve and the charcoal vapor canister for proper operation
I bet it has the famouse castech heads on it. The heads are bad and they are allowing coolant to get into the oil.
This will allow a very small amount of coolant to enter the engine oil. You will not notice a lose of coolant, they leak very little. Try taking off a valve cover and see if it looks like jello on them.
You got moisture in your oil pan. did you drive through any high water? I would watch it regularly now that you have fresh oil in it and see if it happens again.

it cant be the coolant as mine is pink not yellow green and my coolant level has stayed at the full line since ive owned it ive never had to top up and the oil is completly normal in color so i know its not a head gasket otherwise my oil would be a grey milky brown color
no i didnt drive through any water
