2001 VW Jetta Horn issue

posible clock spring under the steerin wheel

There is a "clockspring" wiring spiral in the steering wheel to accommodate the rotating steering wheel with controls on it. If this breaks, you may lose some or all functions controlled by stuff on the s-wheel.

Could be a short in the steering wheel or column. Or a faulty horn relay.
You may need a wiring diagram to trace the circuits from the relay.
Usually the black wire is the ground and the green is voltage from the relay.

horns are located near the front, generally behind the grill but in front of the radiator. before you get physical, trying unplugging the wiring harness and jumping the battery directly to the horn's electrical
connector. An old extension cord can be stripped at the ends and is a fine jumper. You may find that
the horn toots and the problem lies with the relay or the switch inside the car.

so you know the horn is working,the wiring from the fusebox is working,the only thing left is the hornpush or the wire from the horn push to the fuse........

try testing the horn itself first ,these modern horns do have a habit of stopping working

The horn is grounded to the cars frame work so run a wire to the horn direct from the positive side of the battery to test it. I doubt if it will work if everything else was replaced. If you receive no toot replace the horn

I wouldn't recommend removing the fuse, Im not sure on that particular year but usually a fuse has multiple functions not just 1 function. I would find the horn location and just un plug it. But Im curious as to why the horn is going off. Is it the alarm? If it is, I would take the car to autozone and have them test the amp output on the alternator and maybe a load test on the battery....

It's your clockspring. It's inside your steering wheel, underneath the airbag. Controls the electrical connection to your airbag and horn.

Actually you use the horn relay a lot! At least 3 times every time you get lock/unlock your car (6 toots, 2 toots for lock and 1 for unlock right?) ... You just said: "as i clicked my car to lock. It got weaker and weaker until it stopped working" Buy a different brand relay (preferably one not made in China, pay more) and don't expect they WILL last a long time the horns take a lot of power and they have a very dirty feedback to the relay un-like lights. You can dis-able the toots by reading your owners manual.
