Car won't start, turn the key and nothing happens.

Jaguar X Type sport estate, deisel.
It seems like an immobiliser issue.
Can hear what sounds like the door locks trying to lock/unlock repeatedly. Turning the key to start causes strange happenings with the warning lights and dials but nothing else. Won't turn over. Taking the key out doesn't stop the central locking from going off repeatedly, need to use the key fob.
Jaguar assistance ran out midnight last night!!! Don't have AA homestart, just roadside and relay and the car is on my drive.
Any help to over-ride the situation so as I can get it to a dealer would be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks

Hi, try disconecting the battery for a couple of hours and try again but make sure you have your stereo code. if this does not work your key fob may be out cync with your ecu and will require reprograming it is easy on x type , you can do it your self ,you can find the instructions in jag forums or ebay for 1.99

I have a jaguar x type 2002 and now and again I try to start it nothing happens. All I here is some clicking but engine won't start. Happening more and more.

Sounds like a loose connection, check your battery terminals are tight. if you have to boost or jump start the car check your battery condition and alternator output. Check the terminal on the starter motor and solenoid. Finally check the starter

This would appear to be a immobiliser fault? Try a manual start - do not use fob, open door with key and immediately put the key in ignition and start the car. Using this method - when you open the door you will hear a chime this is counting down to starting the alarm. This method can sometimes get around a fob/immobiliser fault. If this makes no difference then you need to get the car checked at a Jaguar dealers for the security system. - good luck.

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.

Immobiliser won't unlock on XJ TDVi

Hi

I suspect the cold weather was the fundamental problem, usually emanating from a battery voltage drop, and kicking in the on board computer gremlins.

Jags just don't like it !

Lets hope the weather improves for you there in UK, and your little gremlin does not return.

Good Luck !

Wont start

Hi
Had a similar problem with my x type 2.5 petrol, only had the car 1 day went to start it nothing happend all the lights came up on the dash but the engine wouldn't start and the immobiliser light stayed on. Spoke to Jaguar they had no idea and I couldn't get it to them. After disconnecting the battery trying to reset the immobiliser phoned and auto locksmith they came out and discovered the end of the key with the blade had lost it's coding and the immobiliser was not disarming, they reprogrammed the key and the car started no problem. As far as i know there is no way past the immobiliser. Hope this helps.
