If the tach was dropping then the motor was dying not the accelerator. The accelerator cable is a cable so it can not have intermitent problems. There is nu under hood fuse panel or box. The only fuse box is on the drivers side od the dash and the relays are in the glove box behind an access panel and if they are not in the glove box they are hanging on the firewall or inner fender. I do not know what your problem is but i am hoping to clarify some of the previous discussion for you. Now some questions. Are the dash lights coming on when you turn on the key? What motor? If is a 4.3L is it a vortec or throttle body? Give me more info and i will see if i can help. Remember I am not with the vehicle so I do not know what it is doing so the more info the more answers.

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.

I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and now I am hearing a vibrating noise from the fuel line under the truck. What do you think the problem is.
