My 2004 &1/2 Dodge 3500 heater grid indicator light on the instrument panel has been going out immediately and not staying on for even a minimal amount of time like it use to. It is the end of Sept. here in Tennessee and the temperature is still above 50 degrees. It seems to start fairly well, but that indicator light always seemed to stay on for at least 5 seconds even in the hot weather. Could I have a problem that may be something I should know before the cold weather gets here?

Inlet air temperature sensor, also known as throttle body temperature sensor, will do that. Don't go changing TPS, or IAC, as suggested in other post. If they work good in warm weather, they should do the same in cold. Air inlet sensor tells system how much fuel to deliver according to temperature, as engine needs more fuel the colder it is when starting.

warning: disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. this is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. failure to take the proper precautions could result in an accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.
