Tailgate jamed shut

I have a 2000 chevy blazer, the rear window and tailgate is jamed shut. Internal and external buttons still work but lock is not releasing in tailgate. How do I fix or remove tailgate casing with it still closed without damaging door or window?

Under the carpet installed on the tailgate door, there is a hole. put a screw driver in it and manually flip the latch open, to start.
yjen take the door panel off, one screw with the interiro handle, and pull the rest off,
watch the auto release slidw side to side, you will find a broken piece here, I made an extension piece with a plastic hook and screw, works fine for over a year, lube all latch parts with wd 30 once opened.

2000 2dr Chevy blazer hatch window will not open

The actuator is not engaging the lock mechanism. You need to open it manually from inside the truck There is an access hole on the rear end gate pad where the material meets the plastic directly in the center you can feel a soft spot in the fabric backing with your finger.use an awl or ice pick to poke thru the hole and feel for the lock arm and pop it open then unscrew the end gate pad and inspect lock Good luck

The bottons for my rear end window and tail gate stopped working. When I shut the gate I heard a clank and now I cannot get the bottom or the top window to open. I cannot get the panel off to look at it...

After a while, the mechanism (actuator) that unlocks and releases the rear glass hatch in your Blazer or Jimmy will eventually burn out. when it does, there is really no way to open the glass and lower the tailgate.
The only way to replace the burnt out actuator is to open the tailgate which you can't because the actuator is burnt out.

I've read stories that even the dealers don't know what to do, some have even cut up the back panel to reach the so-called manuel release. Others said they pulled back the glued on carpet to search for it also.

Well if you don't want to hack up the tailgate panel or rip out your carpet, here's the easy way to open the glass:

You just pull back the interior tailgate panel right above the bump in the middle where the latch is. There are no screws or bolts in that area, you can safely pull it back about 2 inches. Then you'll have to stuck your finger in and push down the release bar.

When you get your finger back there, you should be able to feel for the part that need to be pushed down. When that part is pushed down, the glass has been unlocked.

When you get your finger back there, you should be able to feel for the part that need to be pushed down. When that part is pushed down, the glass has been unlocked.

Good luck and hope this helps, The actuator that needs to be replaced costs $58 from the dealer.

Rear access open on 2005 Chevy Tahoe

I don't know if this will work, but at least it is worth a try. Spray some WD40 liberally over and into both tailgate latches. Try to get up inside using the straw extension. Open and close multiple times to work it in. I suspect there is an internal latch switch, which controls the display, that might be dirty, corroded, or just not working. Of course other causes are possible. I hope it works.

Rear tailgate wont open

I had the same problem on my 2000 blazer, I peeled back the carpet and cut out a small hole near the mechanism and put a flat head screw driver in there and unlocked it manuallly

Repare electric window tailgate 1990 fullsise blazer

latch the locks and trick the door in thinking it is shut. then once you are done pull the handle and relase the latches before you close the door.

there is a safty switch in the latches that keep the window from working unless the door is shut.
