1996 Toyota Camry question. If the brakes start to fail, will a sensor light come on the dash for the warning?
Thanks, Cheryl
Not at all.

Yes or No. You would not drive a vehicle for years without ever disassembly, cleaning and lube of you r brakes between pad and rotor service. So you wouldn't ever get to the sensor point , and brakes never fail, there neglected by every vehicle owner. Please don't view my approach as negative but most people only do break down service/maintenance. I have never had a brake issue in 46 years doing my own veh work, and I owned a shop at one time.

No, the only time a light will come on the dash is if the pads are so worn the master cylinder has to go beyond the normal operating range. Other than that you will hear squealing from the wheels when you use the brakes. This is an indicator the pads are getting worn. If you feel sponginess in your brakes you should get them checked out as soon as you can as failure may be close.
