92 Riviera hyper-inflated rear air shocks

If the seals are worn how can the suspension hold air pressure? Sounds to me like the height sensor is bad and/or maybe some part of the system was damaged while up on the lift.

When removing and installing a shock do jack the side of the truck up so the wheel is off the ground?

Whether front or rear, strut or shock, the first thing is the vehicle must be lifted securely off the ground, please use a jack stand. Whiles some shocks are relatively easy, shock work can be very dangerous. Make sure you are using a reliable spring compression tool and that it is properly aligned and locked before you attempt to remove the spring

Where do I put the supports when working underneath 2006 Chevy Malibu? I need to change my rear shocks

Look under the car - you'll see 2 long metal rails ( the frame rails) . Support each side with a 2 ton minimum jack stand fully extended approximately one foot ( 12" ) in front of the rear wheels. Now use your jack ( preferably floor style ) to lift one of the rear wheels to relieve the pressure on the shock. Remove fasteners securing the shock, then remove and replace the shock. If the new shock has a plastic strap attached, do not cut this strap until you have mounted the shock on the vehicle. If you do not have an exposed frame rail, you'll see a "pad" in front of the rear wheel close to the outside of the car - it should be about 10 inches in from the pinch weld and about 12 inches in front of the wheel. Use this pad for the stand and lift the vehicle by the c shaped bar that goes from 1 rear wheel to the other. Do not support the car with just the jack -it could let loose and drop the car on you.
Hope this helps!

My 1998 cady sts is really high in the back looks like it is lifted.... why?

The vent solenoid is stuck closed on the ELC unit (electronic level control). You can replace the vent valve but it is mounted to the ELC unit witch is attached to the rear axle assembly on the top of axle assembly above the right muffler. To temporary level car, disconnect the compressor electrically then disconnect the air line on one of the rear shocks, let air out till car is level put air line back on shock. Thank you

Rear on my 1005 cadillac deville is stuck up high in the air.

you might want to check your air control box under car near rear shocks, this starts the air compressor to lift or lower the air shocks

Changing rear shocks on a 1990 jag

No. But if can't get it on a lift or high enough to work under comfortably..it will be very awkward. The calipers get in the way when you are removing the springs and shocks as a unit. You can move the part and get it out and down, but you will need to remove the rear wheels and let the rear springs hang down.
Make sure you have a good spring compressor to get the old springs off....in most cases it is the springs that go soft and not the shocks...
Don't assume that it is the shocks unless you know for sure they are bad.

Lift kits

if you have old shocks you can measure full out then full in and give that measurement to your lift company of choice. if not then measure from the center of the axle to the top of the wheel well, if your fenders are cut you can measure(on ground) from the top to bottom shock mount and give that measurement to your fav lift shock company. Good Luck
