Windscreen wash full, motor runs but little coming out of jets.

Hi there, I just topped up my windscreen wash reservoir with Novelle Chemicals Ltd 'clear screen' for car and truck windscreens. I used the suggested amount for my size car at 90mls of the solution with sufficient water to fill the reservoir. It now only squirts a few bubbles and a wee jet that dosn't even reach the windscreen. What should I do? Thankyou, Shirley.

This may be because the motor employed for squirting the water is not functioning. Also check if the nozzle spraying the solution is not stuck.Insert a small pin into the nozzle and clean off any dirt stuck in it.Also the position of the nozzle can be adjusted by rotating the pin after insertin the pin into the nozzle. Also Check the pipe inside the reservoir if any dirt is stuck inside.also at times the the pipe connecting to the nozzle just under the bonnet may be loose or unconnected. So check all these.

Never heard of mixing your own and I've been at this 46 years. Just learned something. Take off the rubber hose near the squirters. not on them, your need some hose to blow though to clear out dirt. Then turn them on with the hose still off from the reservoir and see if the pump works. Stay with the Blue -25 premixed.Wal mart or anywhere cheap. Supermarket. Use year round.

Assuming the washer fluid is topped up, can you hear the washer motor buzzing? If you can then could be jets blocked or pipe come off! Is there water leaking under car?

Landrover Discovery 300tdi 1997 Windscreen Washer Diagram

Hello! The rear washer tubing runs from the reservoir up thru the front corner support column, thru the roof and over to the door. The tubing run from the reservoir to rear door washer jet differs between left and right hand drive vehicles. On right hand vehicles the tubing run is on the left hand side of the roof. On left hand drive vehicles, the right side.

Normally, there is always fluid present in the tubing, thus no priming is necessary and it prevents any clogging... The rear washer jet is is more than likely plugged... Guru...saailer

Windscreen washers not operating They are not frozen problem is at jet end ran a needle through jets and all clear Would the heated jets be damaged with frost as the pumped water is at end of jets and not...

Hi

A common problem, down to wind chill. Even with engine hot and the water being warmed up in the screen wash bottle, the jets are wind chilled. At 0°C and your driving at say 30 mph in the snow, the effective temp is - 8°C on the jets.

Firstly use winter screen wash, or full stength stuff, it usually says on the bottle, and will not freeze till minus 10°C or better.

In the morning pour warm water on the jet, not boiling and keep it way from the windscreen. If you can get the insulation they use on micro bore gas pipe, you could try that to help keep those unprotected washer hoses lagged.

98 Hyundai Accent, front windscreen wash not spraying Pump runnin

If you dont have access to compressed air and a blow gun , to blow down the jets, then use a needle and try to clear the jets, and then try the wshers, you will have to adjust the jets after. If you still have nothing, or it is very weak, then remove the pipe and blow down it , also with the pipe off, try the washer pump to see if it is pumping strongly, because, although the pump is working/making a noise, it may be too weak, in which case you will need to replace the pump.
Hope this helps

Windscreen washers

Fords have a common problem with their washer pumps. for the last 12 years ford have fitted a plastic mesh over the inlet to the washer pump, this blocks up with the build up of crystalized washer fluid. fords official protocol says to use a small sharp object the size of a pencil to peirce the mesh and allow the flow of water. Also most washer bottles can be accessed via the front wheel arch. simple undo the fixings and pull the innier plastic wheelarch out the way and pull the pump out of the bottle. they are never fixed in just wedged in.
