Hyundai accent smoke problem

If the valve seal is leaking, the chances are that the valve guides will need to be replaced, maybe not now but soon so you might as well do both. If the valve stems are OK it would pay to reface the valves as well. This will require removing the cylinder head and an engineering works can do the work for you as the seals need to be pressed out and the new ones pressed in again and the head will need to be skimmed.

I have taken the head off the engine and need to known how to find TDC on the compression stroke, with the head off? Hyundai Accent 2000 Model 1500cc.

Hey..my name is Keith..i'll try to answer your question..and the way to find TDC is to take your valve cover off..and find the valves and rocker arms to your #1 cyclinder..then ya rotate the crank til the markings on the harmonic balancer says its at TDC...then you grab the rocker arms on the valves..and if the intake valve and exhaust valve has no pressure on it..then you know you are on #1 cyclinder at TDC..if not..keep rotating the crankshaft until the #1 cyclinder valves has no pressure on them..i hope this has helped
