318 motor, fuel injected. starts and runs for time at idle. If I give it gas it coughs and sputters. A couple of times I turned the key until it made the buzz. Id id this several times until it didn't buzz, then tried to start it. It started and ran fine but when i turned it off the problem reappeared. After a while I was able to repaeat the key trick and it ran fine again. Now it just starts and idle and coughs if I give it gas and then dies. Whats up?

92 ford f150 with 5.8 starts very hard first time of day (coughs spits and sputters )after some fighting it it runs after that it runs perfect starts perfect

You must clean the fuel injection with fuel injection cleaner and check your vacuum hoses if all is good is your check engine light on? to verify that the bulbs not burned out turn the key to the on position all the dash lights should be on // oil brake check engine if you don't see it on the bulbs burned out there should be codes set go to autozone and have them read if there's none then either your throttle position sensor is bad or the idle air control valve is shot

1989 Dodge 318 CDI engine with Fuel injection. Motor stalls and surges when starting. Takes 15 mins to start. After warming up for 15 minutes will run better but still occasionally surges and stalls.

Questions here are better with full 'year make model' instead of generic '318'.

A few generic ideas.

  1. Check fuel pump pressure.
  2. Run injector cleaner through the fuel system 'Extreme Clean' is a good one.
  3. Clean the throttle body.
  4. Does it have a MAF (mass air flow sensor)?

More ideas here

When i accelerate my 1987 rx7 which is fuel injected starts to sputter and at times shuts off what could be the mal function?

Too many things it could be with a burn car. It is very hard to give a proper diagnostic evaluation without being able to put your hands on the vehicle. You probably still have some sensor or component issues. I recommend you download the FSM at http://foxed.ca/
That will give you the diagnostic procedure.

My 1981 dodge p/u sits a sputters after it warms up you give a little gas it does it give it more gas it smooths out has a slant 6 one barl carb what do you thim=nk it may be i changed the fuel filter...

Try adjusting the idle/air screw on the carb. With the engine off, turn the screw gently to the right until it bottoms out. Don't screw to tight, it will ruin the seat. Turn it out 2 full turns and start the car. After revving the engine a couple of times, let it settle down to an idle. after it warms up, screw it in or out until you get the highest idle speed. If that doesn't do it, you will need to rebuild the carb.

Starting a 2002 Dodge Neon in extremely cold weather

The best is to turn the key on to the run position for a few seconds then back off then back to run and then start. This cycles the fuel pump and sends a good supply of fuel up to the injectors. Also do not rev the engine excessively until it has warmed up to allow oil to flow good.
Good luck, dont forget to rate.
