Finally now it just cranks over like it is out of gas and wont start. Fuel pump? any help would be apreciated. Thanks

1st ensure the fuses are all good and there is fuel in the vehicle and your not getting a false reading by tapping on the tank ..does it sound Hollow oe Empty / another way is turn on the key and listen for the pump to work a slight humming should be heard ...if so locate the fuel bar and cap screw depress the valve shielding your eyes with say a towell and see if gas dispurses make sure the key is on while doing this if no gas is there or fuel pump is heard then it may be either a bad ground to the unit or the fuel pump itself corroded connections will contribute to this as well unclipping and reclipping the connection togeather should allow a better connection

Have you changed out the fuel filter yet? if it is clogged you will not get any power when you accelerate or start the engine. Changing the fuel pump is not hard but can be a little strainus if you do not have the right equipment.

I've swapped the fuel pump relay with another similar relay. It sounds like the pump is bad, but I would check the actual fuel pressure.

I think you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. What this does it tell the computer that the fuel has been brought to the correct pressure for the fuel injectors. If this sensor is bad it will not tell the pump when and if it has to stop or pump more when the engine is running.

Van won't start

Try holding gas pedal to the floor before turning the key then flutter pedal while cranking run fuel line cleaner or octane boost through your tank. If your tank is 35 gallons you will need 2 cans to do any good. This will help to remove moisture from condensation from your fuel system. Also will help to reduce carbon build up in your exhaust. This is a common 5.9 and 5.2 V-8 problem

Chevy astro van turns over but wont start when

Check to see if the fuel pump is kicking in,
when you turn the key on without starting the van you should hear it kick on for about 2 seconds,

It could be...
A clogged fuel filter...
Blown fuse for the pump..or bad pump relay..
No gas
Bad fuel pump
