This means that the programming of the Transponder Key has been corrupted or the Programming data of the Key in ECU ( Electric Control Unit ) has been lost or not responding. You now have to get a new Transponder Key. You can get it on E-bay for $30. After you receive it, reprogram the car to the New Transponder Key to the ECU ( the process in usually given in the instruction manual or in the Service Manual ). Then the car will start perfectly.

With something like that you don't want to buy a China knockoff that will fail in 6mo to a year when you need it most. The transponder keys have RFID technology built in. It's like a barcode but with radio. That's why the reprogramming is needed. Lastly, being a newer vehicle, the anti-thieft part of the keys security system is inside the PCM itself. (No more modules in the kick panel to bypass). But good luck.

Alarm won't turn off

the valet key doesnt have a transponder chip in it, so it will allow physical turning of keyways and operations, but will not disable the alarm and often wont disable the immobilizer.

sorry to say i think you will need to get an autolocksmith , or main dealer to get you a functioning key with transponder chip mapped to your cars rfid system that will allow alarm to be enabled /disabled

Trunk wont unlatch with keyless entry remote or trunk release button on door on 1997 lincoln continental

It sure sounds like a fuse. You can check for proper voltage at the hot wire of the actuator while you try to pop it. I think you are overlooking the fuse. Make sure the actuator has a good ground as well.

Hi you will have a problem with the transponder signal retreiver. this is the component that tells the computer that the correct key is in the ignition. you will have to take it to a dealer to get it checked. Cheers Ben
