Hello we have a 2000 mercedes clk430 and when you are driving and attempting to stop it feels like the brakes are pumping themselves (the brake petal) and then sometimes the abs and check engine light comes on and the car goes into fault mode and you have to pull over and restart the car to reset it and the check engine light will stay on but the abs light will go off of it and it will drive right until the abs light goes off again. We changed all four brakes and brake discs because we figured this would solve the problem but it didnt do you think you could help us please?

I would start by either replacing the abs switch or checking the present one to be sure it is ok. I am assuming there is disc brakes all four wheels. The pumping would indicate to me that the rotors are not running true or again the abs sys is trying to kick in. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Brake lights stay on

Your brake light switch is stuck on, this is also why the cruise is in-op, the cruise is turned off anytime you touch the brake pedal otherwise the car would try to accelerate when you tried braking. The brake light switch is located above the brake pedal, look up the arm the pedal is attached to and you will see it, the switch is not real expensive, and it is easy to install with simple hand tools. As far as the door lock issue fix the brake light switch and try it, not sure it is related unless it all started at the time the brake lights started staying on. Post back after you replace the switch if door problem remains. Thanks

These vehicles have a recall on the ABS system for faulty wiring. You may want to check with your local dealer to see if your vehicle is included.

I have a 2000 Mercedes E430 base sedan. Last week I replaced the brake light switch because it was out and it solved the problem to the point that I can now put my car into gear and drive it, however, as...

Brake light switch problem may cause the ESP / BAS lights to illuminate.

Common symptoms of a bad
Mercedes brake light switch.
  • Car stuck in Park.
  • ABS ESP ETS lights come on.
  • Can not move the shifter from Park to Drive.
  • Brakes Defective Warning on Instrument Cluster
  • Car won't shift gears. Stuck in 2nd gear, limp mode.
  • Brake lights don't work. (Brake light switch can still be defective even if the brake lights work. Checking the brake light operation is not a good test.)
  • ESP, BAS, ABS lights turn on. Car won't shift properly. Stuck in gear.

TEST: To test your new brake light switch: Turn you car off to reset the ABS light. apply the parking brake. and start the car in neutral or park without using the brake. if the problem is the brake light switch... the light will only come on when you press the brake pedal.

If you replaced the brake light switch and the light is still on you should check a few other things such as:

  • Fuses and Relays
  • ABS pump
  • ABS wheel speed sensor
  • Brake Fluid Level
  • Get an advanced scanner to read trouble codes.

NOTE: ** You may need a MBZ scan tool to reset the error code which was stored in the ECU because of the bad brake light switch.

I got a 04 jeep cherokee an my check engine just came on, I took it to auto zone and they told me something about the abs but I'm not realy shure what they ment so please can u guys help me more about...

hello juan. the ABS stands for antilock braking system. This is the system that automatically pumps the brakes for you. when the check engine light comes on for this issue, it is almost always a sensor, there is one for each tire. If your brakes are still pumping themselves on a hard stop, your ABS is still working. If they are not pumping themselves now, your ABS is not working. That said, the good news is you will still have brakes. you just have to pump them yourself. j.

Why is the break sometimes high and sometimes low

not sure if you mean while driving or when parked with the ignition off but here are a couple reasons on why the brake pedal may be high and low at different times. If the vehicle is running the brake pedal will feel the same just about every time. If the car is off and you step on the brakes it will get harder and harder to push down since there is no vacuum assist. Another reason would be the brake pad thickness. New brakes the pedal will feel higher where as worn brake pads the pedal may feel lower. Another reason would be if you have air in the brake lines. this will make the pedal feel mushy and soft at first and firm up as you pump the brakes. Hope this helps.

The ABS light stays on whilst driving on a Honda CRV

Hello. This indicates that you have a bad sensor or a problem with the antilock braking system [ABS]. If your brakes no longer pump themselves when you make a quick stop you know that the antilock braking system is not working. If they still pump, the problem is more likely in sensor to the ABS system. Joe

Brakes are so loose sometimes feel its not gonna stop then you pump it couple of times and it came back

If there are no leaks (brake reservoir remains full), then you have air in the brake line and/or a leaking master brake cylinder. Check also the vacuum line to the brake boost.

Please do NOT drive the car until you have repaired the problem.

Hello! Is there a way to adjust the rear drum brakes after the shoes are replaced on a 2000 Saturn LS1?

Simply drive in reverse to about 5 mph and mash on the brake pedal to stop. You only have to do this once and the brakes will automatically adjust themselves (assuming everything was reconnected properly).

I hope this helps.

I have A class mercedes Benz ASB,ESP light came on after 1 mile drive what should i do, to drive the car or not before it fix.

It is OK to drive it I recommend you fix it when you can It is most likely the stop lamp switch located on the back of the brake pedal part is 25-35 dollars depending on where you live have it tested before replacing. If it tests good you have a faulty brake sensor in one of your wheels check brakes
