Tranmission seems to come out of gear at various speeds.

While driving it will all of a sudden make a bumbing sound and the transmission is no longer engaged. I can down shift and it engages again and may go for many miles before it does it again. When it is engaged it shifts properly and seems fine.

About 3,000 miles ago the Module Transmission Control was replaced by the dealer under the limited warranty. The limited warranty has now expired.

Make sure you have the right transmission fluid chrysler has a special type of trasmission fluid I believe it ATF+4. change the fluid and filter and the add three quarts of ATF+4 and one quart of "Lucas transmission slip. This should fix the problems. Mike

Four wheel drive not working on a 1990 chev 1500 pickup with manual tranmission?

Yep! it does sound as if you've lost the proper connection between your engine flywheel and the transmission clutch-plate. That baby is crying for your TLC after being such a faithful trooper all these years.

Speedometer broke, it's not completely broke, it stalls and bumbs up to speed, but it takes a while to bump up

Sounds like the cable for the speedometer needs to be replaced. If that is good then there is a problem with the gear that drives that cable where it connects to the transmission or the speedometer itself is faulty.

CAR RUNS FINE BUT WHEN I DRIVE FASTER THEN 70 MPH THE CHECK TRANSNISSION LIGHT TURNS ON THE TRANS HAS A BANGING SOUND. IT GIVES A INCORRECT GEAR CODE. PLZ HELP

Don't drive faster than 70Mph! That is over 115 feet per second! Anyway, it's 4WD, correct? Check the fluids in the tranmission and transfer case. You transmission may need to be serviced. Limit your speed to 50-60 MPH and don't shift hard...with a lot of RPM's, when taking off and going through 1st 2nd and 3rd. Drive gently until you can have the transmission serviced.

Tranmission will not shift into next gear from

Try changing the transmission fluid and transmission fluid filter. It is a fairly easy but kind of messy job. Just buy the new fluid and filter, Grab your metric socket set and go at it. NEVER WORK UNDERNEATH A HOT VEHICLE. You have to pull the transmission pan to do this job. When you break the gasket seal several quarts (liters) of transmission fluid will cascade down on you. Be ready for it. Don't forget that when it stops draining there is still a lot of fluid left in the pan. When you finish cleaning up the fluid clean the gunk out of the pan. Install the new filter and reinstall the pan with a new gasket. Do not over torque the pan or filter bolts. If you strip them out or break them off you will need professional help to repair it. Refill the transmission with fluid. It should take six or seven liters.

I was driving at a speed of 70mph when suddenly my cars tackometer winded out and my car was no longer in any gear.i had no prior warning or signs of trouble as of now my car will only stay in gear up to...

Transmission. You're probably stuck in the same high gear. Which would explain why you can't climb at a low speed. Also explain why you can't change to reverse. It's not changing gears at all is what it sounds like to me. You can at least check your transmission fluid and see if it's a redish color like it should be. But you should honestly get it checked out by a mechanic.

Speed sensor

the speed sensor (VSS) is typically a small component in the transmission w/ a gear at one end and a wire connector receptacle at the other. the geared end is driven by a final-drive gear inside the transmission which is usually located in the tailshaft of the trans. The gear spins relative to drive-wheel speed, which is converted to an electrical signal and relayed to the vehicle on-board computer. The signal is then sent out in various directions to be utilized by the speedometer, transmission, cruise control, and others
