Tried to jump out maf sensor , now tachometer does not work

TRUCK MEANS C1500 PICKUP?
NO SURE THE PROBLEM? IS THERE ONE?
THE MAF WIRE TO THE PCM SO IT CAN COMPUTER FLOWS AND MATCH INJECTION RATES TO IT.
MY GUESS IS YOU HAVE NO SERVICE MANUAL
NOR KNOW HOW TO TEST ANY MAF.
DID THE SCAN TOOL SHOW MAF DTC ERRORS?
MOST MAF AR3 3 PINS, GROUND , SIGNAL ,DC POWER.

12VDC POWER IS ING1 FUSE. BOX UNDERHOOD
B PIN IS GROUND
IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

code p 0102 refers to mass air flow(MAF) sensor /volume air flow (VAF) sensor --low input===causes --wiring short to ground ---MAF/VAF sensor ---ECM
check wiring for insulation problems or broken connections
replace the MAF sensor

Try unplugging the MAF sensor. It is located on the top of the throttle body. It should have a three wire connector. If the car now starts and runs than I would suspect a bad MAF. typically the MAF and the connector are replaced at the same time.

You may have a bad alternator. Car died while driving, either gas or fire. if you know about MAFS your should know how to check starter function by jumping solenoid to large post of battery. Check for 12V at the large post on starter. Then try to jump the two connections. If car cranks, I would check ignition circuit for faults.

Sounds like the Mass Air-Flow Sensor may be toast. I think you are on the right track. My scanner does not see MAF either. good luck.

Your Mass Air Flow sensor needs cleaning or replacement. Due to cost, try cleaning first. Pick up some CRCelecrical spray cleaner and wash the maf sensor thoroughly on both sides. Do not rub, brush, or touch the sensor and no compressed air . the spray droes quickly. The maf sensor can be found in the intake ducting in one of yhe metal sections or in the air filter box. Don't leave anything in the ducting like loose dirt. Put it together and see how it does, Good Luck, Ned.

you should change the tps( throtal position sensor) this can cause that problem

The MAF is in-line between the air filter and engine intake. They are easy to replace but you may need to buy a "security" bit to get some of the screws out. Auto Zone list a cheaper one for around $100. You can try cleaning the thin wire elements with MAF sensor cleaner.....attached is a picture of the MAF

It is what you call hunting. Carb or throttle body injection?. more than likely TBI. Could be the throttle position sensor,The mass air flow sensor, fuel pressure regulator. have the fuel pressure ck'd first.. then the throttle position sensor. then the maf sensor. Have the maf sensor cleaned, They are very expensive. Make sure the air cleaner is clean, clean. it and the maf work together. - good luck, Ned
