Abs brake and air bag light all came on the same day. i had the brake fluid resievor replaced and a brake job done about two weeks before this happened. the brake light had been coming on and a alarm sounding for a few months but as soon as the alarm would sound the brake light would go off . this would happen if you hit a speed bump or a bad spot on the road .

SOURCE: abs and brake light is flashing on my 99 audi a6

If you need to repair the brake module, there is a fantastic article, complete with photos, at http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml

I followed this example for my '98 and now it works perfectly. I found a shop on eBay to rebuild my module (lifetime warranty) for under $200. It took me about 1 hour to pull it off and about 45 min to put it back on with minimum shop tools

SOURCE: Audi A4 need to replace rear brake light on audi a4

Inside the boot is a plastic cap embeded in the boot liner. Remove the cap to reveal a screw. Undo the screw and the whole rear light cluster will come away in a sideways and not rearward direction to reveal all of the bulbs. Hope this helps.

Abs and brake light blinks with beeping sound on my 2000 audi quattro A4 1.8T. What could be the problem? How can I fix it?

Check & replace if necessary the brake pedal switch placed above pedals on the support.
If the problem still occurs you might access the ABS ECU (Electronic Control Unit) using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) memored.
Then you will be able to replace bad piece(s) and fix the problem by erasing all DTC stocked inside ABS ECU & reset it.

Air bag and abs lights staying on

If the Airbag light is on, it indicates that a electronic fault is stored in the memory for the airbag. You will need to have a diagnostic check done to pinpoint what the fault is, have it sorted out and only then can the fault be cleared so the light will go off. The ABS light also indicates a fault on the electronic side of the braking system. If the light comes on as you start the vehicle this indicates that there is an open circuit in the wiring or that the ABS control unit itself is faulty. If the light only comes on once the vehicle is in motion, this indicates that a wheel speed sender is incorrectly fitted or dirty and not sensing the ABS Rotor on one of the wheels. If a CV joint has been replaced, the joint may not have an ABS ring fitted on it.[front] At the rear the ABS pick up is fitted on the inside of the brake discs and must be fitted to the new disc when replacing discs.
