The car overheated and something caused the overheating. Bad thermostat, low coolant level due to a leak or busted radiator hose, inoperative cooling fan, or a bad water pump. Lots of things can cause an overheating condition and I am not really sure that any blame can or should be assessed to anyone regarding what caused the overheating....something caused it and I would be hesitant to blame the driver. I doubt that the person did anything devious like drain the coolant out. However, poor judgement was used in continuing to drive the vehicle after it overheated. This can cause major problems like a blown head gasket or even a completely blown engine. Maybe the lady panicked or was unaware of the damage that it could cause to keep driving. I suspect that it wasn't something malicious (she probably feels bad enough, already), but just a simple error in judgement. I would probably give her the benefit of the doubt and explain (calmly), the mistake that she made and why it was a mistake. She didn't cause the original problem, she just handled it badly. I would check the condition of the vehicle out and go from there. What's done is done.
Start by trying to find out what caused the overheating and if it caused any permanent engine damage. Some of the things that I mentioned earlier would be a good start, or you could have a certified auto tech take a look at it. It was really nice of you to lend the use of your car to someone. I am really sorry for the trouble you are having and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Honda accord ex 2001 check engine light suddenly came on, car started to idle roughly

If it's running rough, chances are that it's misfiring. If the Check Engine light is flashing/blinking, it is definitely misfiring.
If that's the case, drive it as little as possible... Or straight to the mechanic because the more you drive it while it's misfiring, the higher the chance is of you ruining your catalytic converter.

Hey i have a 95 honda civic ex coup. the car has been idleing funny and when i push the clutch in it seems to want to die some times. then one night i drove around and it seemed to drive fine i parked and...

Sounds like the timing belt may have broke. You can check by opening the oil cap on the valve cover and watching the valves while someone cranks the engine. If the valves do not move, your timing belt has snapped. Please let us know if this is not the cause or if you would like instructions for replacing the belt.

92 Honda accord ex D4 light/acceleration problem

Change your main relay assembly under the dash on drivers side. I was able to get my small hands under there and change mine out readily--not easy to get to as I didn't want to take the dash apart, but I got it done. If you have other problems after then find you a used TCU unit and change it out (passenger side where they put their feet, pull the carpet up, you will see easy, easily replaceable).

96 Accord Ex overheating

Based on the info you provided, this appears to be a classic radiator problem. The tiny coolant passages in the radiator are clogged, and are not allowing coolant to flow thru to let the fans do their work.

My daughter owns a 2001 Honda Civic EX. After

The exact problem happened to me...

Opposed to a blown fuse, most likely the drained/dead battery caused the radio to "reset" itself. You should have a 5 digit (or 4) code that was provided by the dealer or owner. Most owners write it down somewhere on their owners manual. If not, the dealer can give you the code. Once the code is entered, you back in business!

Good luck!

Help! my car is possessed

i may be wrong at this but i think it's your alarm system. headlights, doors and horn all connects to an alarm system (if your alarm system does this) i mean, some alarms, when you unlock or lock your car, the lights turn and horn blows simultaneously with the alarm. if you have an alarm system that seem to malfunction, it may also affect your doors, horn lights etc. have it checked or replaced.

well, as ive said, i may be wrong. =)
