SOURCE: noise in car rear

The rear differential either needs versatrak fluid added or changed.
Located at the rear of the vehicle loosen the top hex bolt and stick your finger in if you don't feel any fluid add some. If you do feel fluid see what color it is. It should be clear if not then its time for change.
Versatrak fluid can be purchased at any GM dealer .You will need almost 4 bottles to do a full change.Once you have either added or changed the fluid do some circles around left and right and drive a few blocks then circle around again and your groaning noise should be gone!

SOURCE: Rear Wheel Bearing Repair; 2005 pontiac aztek

Remove the brake caliper
Remove the disc, (rotor)
Remove the 34mm nut on the axel shaft
Remove the three (3) bolts from the back side
You will need a wheel puller (three jaw will work well)
Place the puller over the hub and tighten, this will push the shaft out of the hub. Now you have to pull the hub assy. out of the mounting bracket. I found hitting each side,of the hub with a lead hammer to work well. Don't forget to disconnect the ABS senser on the back side of the hub assy.
Do not over tighten the 34mm axel nut when you install the new assy. If you use an impact whrench on it you will damage the bearing.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Aztek - AWD disable light and Anti Lock Light

AWD disabled from a sensor unit in rear differential that senses high temp. This thing is over $300. Whine is from fluid. Need to change fluid. This versatrack fluid is about $40 per bottle and you need 3 bottles. Thumping noise is from loose rear knuckle bushings. These are part of the entire rear knuckle assy. and you must replace complete knuckle.

SOURCE: pontiac aztek awd disabled

Mine does this same thing...After taking it to the dealer and paying lots of money I found the solution my self while changing the Driver Side tire. Look behind the tire there should be a little plug for the abs if it comes un plugged in any way or loose then it will disable the AWD. Worked for me hope this works..

How do i get info on any recalls on my 2004 pont aztec & how do i get in contact with somebody about anti-lock & awd problems

Hi! Matt, Most likely if the anti-lock brake light and the awd disable light come on at the same time a wheel bearing / wheel speed sensor assembly is faulty.Listen for a humming noise when driving and try to determine where it is coming from(left/right/front/ back) or any looseness/play in any wheel. That's the possible bearing/wheel speed sensor causing the problem. Or have the abs system scanned to determine which wheel sensor is reading incorrectly. If the awd disable light is off then the awd system should be funtioning.

Anti lock indicator light has been on for a while, now the brake indicator light comes on while driving and it dings until you kill the ignition?

Check your front wheel speed sensors there may be a broken wire at front wheels brake sensors. If you take it to mechanic shop and they hook up diagnostics, they will get the code for wheel bearing (hub). But the real problem nine out ten is the WIRE going to the sensor.

Brakes makin nosie

Sounds like a wheel hub assembly is bad without seeing it. Alot of GM vehicles have the ABS wheel speed sensors built into the hub assemblies. Should be able to narrow the noise down by driving the car slightly turn left and right noise should change from loud to soft when turning the wheel. ( if you turn left and noise gets louder hub on right front is noisey.Opposite will occur if left side is bad)

The AWD disabled light keeps going off & on periodiacally while I am driving and the brakes sometimes want to pump up...what is causing this ?

Rear wheel hub(s) will cause the AWD light to come on and sometimes off. After awhile that light will just stay on until you get the rear wheel hub replaced. You can either have a dealer do it for approx $500.00 or you can get the part at AutoZone for $129.00 and do it yourself. This will turn off the AWD light and also quiet the rear noise you hear.

Buick rendevousz headaches

I own the 2002 Buick Rendezvous CX and I've encountered the same problems listed here. The ABS / Traction Control Lamp stays on and was throwing a code for the left wheel speed sensor as well as an anti-lock brake code (both in the wheel bearing hub assembly). I replaced the left and right front wheel hub assembly yet this did not eliminate the abs codes.
Ultimately, I traced this problem to a break in the wire that leads to the left hub assembly. Although the sensor was properly connected, the wire (which is encased in a plastic housing) was broken. This is the wiring which leads from the abs wiring harness under the hood down to the left wheel abs sensor.
I would suggest that you simply remove the left wheel and inspect the wire that leads to the abs sensor (there is only one wire on each wheel). Mine literally fell apart when I removed the plastic housing around the wire. I spliced the wire together and put it back in the plastic housing. After this, my abs codes disappeared and my anti-lock brakes began working again!
This is a simple fix that many people spend $1000 + on by replacing the hub assembly which does not fix the problem.
