If your engine is a V6 I need to know the size to help you.

If its the V8 engine the firing order should be 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 in the order of rotation on the distributor (clockwise) Your model should have the # 1 marked on the cap and as long as no one has had the distributor out and put it back in a little off, It should be where its marked. If its not marked by the hold down for the wires to the cap, then (all things being correct) you should have the number 1 pointing towards the front. Number 1 normally points to the number 1 cylinder. On GM cars the furthest forward head is the Odd bank and the other head the Even bank. So the furthest forward bank would be 1 3 5 7 and the other side of the engine is 2 4 6 8.

I dont have a picture but this explination should help.
Hope this helps you get going again.

Hi there, i need to see a diagram of the spark plug leads for theleft and right side and the positions on the distributor cap. can you help? thanks Serge

The way to do that is get the firing order of the engine and the rotation. The # 1 position is usually marked on the distributer cap. If the rotor turns clockwise the wires on the cap will be in the fireing order sequence on the cap in a clockwise direction. If the order is 1432 , 1 to # 1 plug next on the cap in a clockwise rotation on the cap is 4 goes to #4 plug and next is 3 to #3 plug etc.

Im trying to find the correct order for the spak plug wires from the distributor cap to the engine on a 1991 subaru loyale, 4 cylinder 1.8 liter

Its easy to set the distributor timming all you have to do is to aligne the crankshaft pully to the marks and see which cylinder is on firing or rather on power stroke you may hve to remove the vavle cover to get the correct cylinder at power stroke which will have the valves (inlet & exhaust )closed.
At the distributor cap removed check out the rotor as to where it is and thts your number one, since you know the firing order so from here you should be able to get the wiring of the distributor correct.
Good Luck.
