Air conditioner pump slips on serpentine belt when activated

Air conditioner pump sometimes slips for 30 seconds on serpentine belt sometimes when you turn AC on then works fine after. This is very hard on belt, it lasts only about 3000 miles as is, and one almost broke.
Installed new belts, tensioner, and even used belt grip. the engine almost stalled when the AC was turned on after I used belt grip and it still slipped. After the initial 30 second slip and squeal it operates fine. The AC has the original factory charge. A shop said the inlet and outlet pressures were perfect and it operated fine for them. They said Oh this may cost $1,800 to fix (which would replace everything for that money-which I do not have).

See if that vehicle came without A/C. If so ck for the belt availability and see if it can be put od bypassing the compressor. At the least, disconnect the compressor clutch wirin g so the A/C will not function at all. until you can manage a the cost of a pump. Good luck, Ned

06 hummer h3 making loud. High pitch squeling

If the squealing is coming from under the hood while the engine in running then it could be a number of things such as an idler bearing, water pump bearing, or possibly an air conditioner or alternator bearing. Other possibilities are belts that are worn or have gotten wed from a bad water pump or have loosened up because of a bad belt tensioner. Take a long bar and touch each area that seems to be making the noise. If you can feel the vibration or hear the squeal when you touch the area, then you found your noise.

I would check your cooling fans. When you turn on the AC, it probably starts a second fan. Maybe the other one is not working?

When stopped in drive the steering wheel vibrates a lot when the air conditioner is on .There are already new motor mounts replaced could it be the adjustment of the idle screw ?throttle plate cleaning...

The belt tensioner can cause many of these problems, sometimes the serpentine or fan belt is replaced, but the tensioner is not given much thought, a tensioner that is going out, can cause the belt to not have enough tension to keep the battery charged by slipping, when the clutch on the ac compressor cycles on and off, if the tensioner is to loose, or not tight enough can cause the compressor to vibrate, it can cause wear on other parts attached to the belt even cause pre-mature wear on other pulleys. good luck!

Is an Air Conditioner Belt the same as a serpentine belt in a 2004 chevy tahoe?

NO, your truck has 2 belts one for the A/C and one for everthing else.
