2001 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD. CHeck Engine light on and blinking. Took to Mechanic who had it a week and then called said he couldn't figure out. Its running fine, good power etc. But its getting poor mileage recently. I noticed a decline in milage a few months ago, bit the check engine light was not on. I'd not replaced the plugs since car was new, and it has 110,000 miles. So i replaced, with new platinum good plugs. It didn't seem to help mileage or change performance. A couple weeks later the check engine light started blinking, and hasn't stopped. (Note: old plugs were clean with good even brown, no sign of carbon, fouling or oil burn or rich running. The looked good enough to put back in!) My shop couldn't figure it out. The codes I get with my scanner are: P1311 P1312 P0300 and one that says P0300 p/d. What do you think?
After market spark plugs could be the problem.
Reinstall the old plugs and see if that fixes it.
This vehicle has an ion sensing ignition system and is real sensitive to the proper spark plugs. I would get the proper plugs from the dealer if the old ones work.
The codes P1311 and P1312 are ion sensing codes.
