hello, if these are sort like nissian sentry, they have a switch , when you put foot on brake you can put it in gear, if myou dont put foot on brake the shiftr will not move, check and see if you have a safety switch on the gear shifter, you can call auto part, or dealer they would tell you..
i would check the wires on the brake switch, make sure you don't have a broken wire. if the wires look good tap on the brake switch and then try putting it in to drive if it works then yomight need the replace the brake switch. but also that all of your fuses are good. somtimes that will do it also. try that good luck

If bulbs are ok it will be the brake light switch, or possibly the wires to the switch that have been knocked off with your foot. Push the drivers seat right back and get your head down under the dash. There may be a small panel that requires removal so that you can see up to the switch. Its directly in line with the brake pedal and has two wires going to it. Remove the connector and link the wires with a bridge wire. Switch ignition on and check lights. If they are on replace the switch or adjust so that the centre pin that comes out against the brake pedal is further away but is being pressed when the pedal is released. Cheers John
