For electrically operated temp gauge, check the power supplying it. Most often, this is connected
to either the accessory fuse or front dashboard
instrument panel, check for busted fuse at the
fusebox. If every fuse is okey, then your temp
gauge needs replacement.

Temperature sending unit wire may be disconnected or unit failed (broken).
The sending unit is on top of the engine and looks like an over-grown sparkplug.
Work the electrical connection on iot and start engine to see if the temp is registering.
Replace unit ($13) if not working. There is no fuse for this.

2002 Jeep Liberty ran car last night then went next day no start and the fuel gauge doesn't move so I put gas in it but still doesn't move nor start

Spray starting fluid into the engine air intake, if it fires up and dies you have a defective fuel pump most likely.

My Car is going to the red in temperature gauge to the H. I put water in the car and let it sat, when drove it again it went right back high. It never acually ran hot with steam help?

Your thermostat may be blocked or clogged. Try filling the radiator when the motor is cooled down. Then leave the cap off the radiator and start the car, you should see water circulating once the car warms up. If the water is not moving then there is a clog which points to a thermostat or water pump.

Thank you for the opportunity. I have a Ford Escape 2001 6 cl and temperature gauge stocks on cold. Today it moves to hot then went to neutral and slowly went to cold again without moving.

Hi Ivette,

Temp sensor/sender units, ussually send a variable earth resistance dependent on temperature, so it sounds like the wiring is broken/rubbed through, causing the sporadic changes due to full earth going to gauge(hot). brocken wire(cold)

But could be a faulty sender just the same, doesnt sound like a thermostat after driving the gauge would still move in relation to engine temp, would start by checking the wiring to temp sensor, also check coolant level and monitor engine temp while driving if gauge is in-op.

Hope this helps.

Low oil no. Low water yes simply check the water. I don't think the temperature sensor is bad. The problem is probably due to the car running hotter.

Trust what the AA says ..

It does sound like you have an airlock .. and the airlock is likely to be in the heater matrix, as opposed to the radiator.

Bleed the heating system: Set your heater controls to hot and fully open. Let the engine work until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check your coolant level to see if it has dropped.

You can always bleed the coolant system by leaving the coolant bottle cap off for 10 minutes whilst the engine ticks over.

It isn't your water pump.

My check engine light is on, and today my temperature gauge stopped working and we have replaced the engine coolant sensor and the connector and temperature gauge still not working. PLEASE HELP

Could be the thermostat. I know nothing about cars but I noticed my 2000 Grand Prix temp gauge was not going to the normal level. My wife drives this car so I didn't notice it for a month or so. Eventually the Engine light came on. Took it to Autozone and the code came back as P0180... (1) low coolant (2) bad thermostat (3) enginge fuel temp sensor. They used a code reader that was about the size of an Ipod nano.

Coolant was okay, so took it to my mechanic. His netbook sized computer showed it was the Thermostat. He reset the codes and the temp guage went back to normal. Was short on $40 for the fix at the time, so I parked the car and promised to bring it back in 3 days. Went out and checked the car a day later at 25 degrees outside without starting the car... gauge still sitting at the normal level. No question it's the thermostat. That car will not be driven again until T.stat is fixed in 2 days.

u need to take somewhere and have codes scanned (most parts store do this for free) my best guess is it probably a bad coolant temp sensor (u have 2 of them one for gauge and one for computer) one that probably bad is one for computer (should be one with two wires)(one with one wire is for gauge) if temp sensor is reading that the motor hot it will adjust air/fuel ratio for a hot motor but if motor is actually cold it run bad
But to know for sure u need to at least get codes scanned

The sensor for the fans is in the rad at the bottom. T-stat may be bad or the rad may be clogged. Cooling system needs attention.
