BMW 1998 528I major overheating issues.

When driving our car, it will randomly overheat. All of the sudden, the gage instantly goes all the way in the red, and the engines smoking. When you pour anti freeze or water in it, you can hear it leaking, but you don't see anything leaking from underneath the car. It takes forever to fill it up, because either its leaking out somewhere, or its so hot its evaporating when you put it in. About a year and a half ago we had the the water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, and radiator replaced. We also had the cylinder head reinstalled with new gaskets and seals. The place we took it to could never figure out why it was doing what it was because it was so inconsistent. After replacing everything, it ran fine for awhile. Recently has started doing the same thing. We check the anti freeze level in it all the time. Some times you can drive it 30 miles and nothing happens, sometimes it will overheat if you try to drive it 5. It seems to just dump all the antifreeze out of the blue? Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? I'm really hating this money guzzler right now.

Radiators leak and break easily on the 528i. Also, there are bleed screws that are plastic that can sheer off and create a leak on the two main hoses.
Or, the guy who did your head gasket didn't check it for cracks, so it's leaking into the cylinder chamber and burning out.

Temp gage is solid red, air conditioner is now blowing hot air. Filled coolant reservoir and it emptied while driving but mechanic found no leak with pressure test. Is this a thermostat issue?

I doubt it.
A faulty thermostat would cause the engine to overheat after a few miles of driving. A faulty cooling fan could cause the engine to overheat and also keep the ac from working.
A leaking head gasket could cause overheating, and loss of coolant, but would not affect the ac.

2007 bmw 328i water pump problem

If it has an electric pump you should hear or see water flowing when car is turned on. If not, check any fuses or relays for the pump, and there is probably temp sensor controlling the pump. The main thing is to make sure any fuses and relays are working before tearing the pump out.

Bmw 316i e36 when idol car doesnot overheat but after driving for about 2km car starts overheating

Have you checked your coolant levels as well as thermostat and waterpump functions? These can all atribute to engine overheating.

My oil pressure lamp came on and my car over heating? i have added more oil, but i hear a constant rattling noise when the car starts. the most concerning thing is that the engine termperature gage goes...

Do not drive the car until this is corrected, as major damage can result, and may have already occurred. What is the coolant level? Is it full, or empty, or have you had to add a little or a lot recently? What is the oil level? You say you added oil, did you fill it to the correct level? Is it overfilled? Overfilling with oil is as bad as running with low oil. If it is overfilled, drain it to the correct level. When the car warms up (10 minutes) and the temp gauge goes up, are the cooling fan(s) turning on? If they aren't, that could be your overheating problem. It could also be a thermostat that is stuck closed, or partially closed. Rust and sludge in the cooling system can also cause overheating. Has the system been flushed every several years? So, answer all my questions, and I'll try to narrow the cause some. The fact that the engine 'rattles' when the car starts is a concern, as well as the overheating.

I have a 97 bmw 316i, we have changed the water pump, checked heads and changed radiator, bleed it at a 40degree angle filled it with coolant and it is still overheating after a ten minute drive?

You actually need the thermostat in to pressurize your cooling system or the coolant won't cyle through the radiator, it'll just cycle around the engine. Most people think without the thermostat in the coolant will just pump freely through the engine and radiator, but it doesn't.

Chuck in a new thermostat, purge the air out of the system and see if it overheats then. I gaurentee it won't, if it does then you've got head problems (but they should already be obvious by now).
