Window on passenger side of 1999 ford expedition will not come down. It sounds like the motor and mechanism still move up and down, but the window is off track. also, before this, the window would open and close, but very slowly and seemed to strain the motor of the door. also, how do i remove the inside door panel to get to the glass motor, etc

Call your local library and ask if they have online access to a shop manual. If so, go there and print out all the door trim fastener diagrams. Then print out the window regulator removal instructions and diagrams. If they don't have it, go to alldatadiy.com

Hi,

Initially, try to determine which fuse goes to the power window. Check and replace if necessary.

In brief for a temporary remedy just to have the window closed: remove the triangular cover at the top front of the door behind the mirror, there should be a screw there; remove the trim around the door handle another screw, remove the cover of the courtesy light at the bottom of the door, there is another screw behind that; soon as all the screws are out, lift/push up on the door panel and pull off. This would grant you access to the mechanism controlling the window. You can try closing by manually turning the motor.

Thereafter, pls determine if it is the motor or the switch(es) has failed. Replacements are available here.

Incidentally, here is a nice tutorial on repairs of power windows in general.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 2001 malibu rear driverside window off track

Just take a phillips screw driver, and a good sturdy putty knife, and your fingers, and just pry the plastic away from the metal of the door...

Open the door first, and where the inside door handle there should be 1 or 2 screws, and one near where the handle is to open the door from the inside. Take these out first before attempting to pry off the door panel. The panel is held onto the door by plastic snaps shaped like an enlongagted tooth.

Use COMMON SENSE AND BE GENTLE YET FIRM....

Don't be surprised if you have to get a whole new window motor assembly, alot of times they come as one assembly and seperate parts do not exist. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: My power window came off track

There are 2 screws just above the door handle you need to remove. Remove the plastic trim around door handle. Then starting at bottom of door panel pull out to disengage the push pin clips and work your way up both sides of panel. Then lift up on door panel to disengage the weatherstip on top of panel.

SOURCE: how to remove front driver side door panel (2000 ford expedition)

There is a triangular piece, at top corner, covering a screw behind the mirror. Remove that screw. Remove the piece that covers the handle and remove the screw holding the handle to the door. Look through, where door handle was and remove another screw just above where the handle was. This screw is holding the panel to the actual door. Pop the cover off for the automatic door locks and disconnect them. Lift the panel in an upward direction.

All of my power windows stopped working

Sounds to me like he disconnected something when he was working and didn't connect it back. Under the driver side dash is where the main wires come in for all the electrical components. The main for the windows and door locks is coming down from the driver door and could be disconnected there. all the fuses that work those are under the hood and not inside the car. Let me know what you find out.

You may want to remove the cover over the wiper nut and tighten it down. Make sure you don't exceed the torque settings. The nuts have a tendency to back off causing the wipers (or one wiper) to slip.

The passenger side window is down and won't come back up using either side button.

if the fuse is good, it sounds like the regulator (motor) have someone actuate the switch while you pull up on the window, it may be stuck.

Passenger window will not go up i think its

if the fuse was an issue then all the windows would be inop, not just one, the most common fault is the electric motor that runs the window up and down.
