SOURCE: installing after market stereo

Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: WIRING CHANGE FOR 2002 DODGE CARAVAN

Your best bet on that one is to go to a place that sells car audio systems or even some autoparts retailers have them, and get the proper adapter harness already made up. A few more dollars but, a whole lot less headaches.

SOURCE: 97 dakota installed radio harness have power no sound

If you still haven't fixed this, look at your wiring harness. The blue wire that comes off your factory harness is the external amp in the Infinity stereo. I found this out when I hooked my Pioneer head unit up. Coming off the aftermarket stereo should be a blue wire that says remote. Hook those up and you should be good to go.

The previous owner installed an after market Alpine CD player, It is wired into the dome light circuit and has a dead short. The dome light fuse (#12) 15A blows intermediately after inserting a new one and...

This could be a component or a wiring fault. It is easier to check the components so:-

1)Remove lamp and insert new fuse.

If fuse goes again, disconnect stereo, replace lamp and fuse.

If fuse does not blow the dump stereo.

If fuse goes again, trace the wiring and

If it still blows, then the stereo is likely to be faulty

Replacing stock Delco stereo display unit Model #16161954 in my 1993 Buick Regal with another stock unit, do I just color match all the wires?

yeah. if you were going to put an after market cd player in there, you would actually need to purchase a wiring harness though. but yes, just match the wires, but be careful to not cross them, because those wires are small enough to melt if you cross them.
