There are 2 PDF documents to look up. The first - Routing Guide - give you the diagram code for the vehicle with the 6 cylinder and the V8 equipped vehicles. See page 84 for the 2004 LS model.

Diagrams 8-16 (V6 engine) and 7-29 (V8 engine) can be found in the second PDF - the iIlustration Guide.

yes, you need a piston retract tool for the rear cylinders. rear piston must turn clockwise as it is being retracting.

Once you turn the octagon screw to release the light and push it forward or out of the front of the vehicle, take a light and look to the left side if your working on the driver side or the right side if your working on the passenger side and you will see a metal tab release. Take a long flat head screw driver and press down toward the ground gently. The headlight will be released and the whole assembly comes out as it has a plug/electrical connection on the back of the assembly. I just replaced my headlights, I have a 2004 Touareg with 44,000 miles and have already gone through 2 sets of headlights. The VW dealer will want $300.00 to replace 1 side! They have lost their minds. How long have you had yours and what engine do you have? Just curious if you have had any problems? My Touareg has just needed tires, brakes, headlights. I have done the brakes as well. They want around $900.00 + for front plus about 8 for the rear. If you need anything just hollar and if you have any questions just let me know if I canhelp.
