Re: i have a honda 1993 the oil light is on .I change
10 psi minimum at idle and 50psi at 3000 rpm are needed for the light to be off. If you have this check for a bad ground wire and reset the CEL. Good luck...i hope this helps

The oil pressure switch causes it to turn on when there is no oil pressure. There is oil you say, so you need to check if there is oil pressure when you start the engine. Simplest test even without gauges is to remove pressure switch and start engine briefly and turn it off. If you have oil pressure you will have oil shooting out of the switch hole. Replace switch. If you dont have check iol pump.
Look on rear side of engine. There are possibly a couple sensors screwed into engine block, but if you purchase oil pressure switch first you will see which one it is.
there is always the possibility that you really have low oil pressure when you get this light, at idle the engines oil pump produces the least pressure and if there are problems then that is when it shows up, so have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a mechanical test gage, if the oil pressure is within spec then replace the oil pressure light sending unit on the engine, I don't recommend you drive this until u are sure of the pressure, u can SEVERELY damage the engine is the pressure is really low.
-check the Oil pressure switch see it loose or not connected. maybe bad oil pressure switch
-chech the engine oil see if it's need more oil.
- the last thing i would think is the oil pump.
all these things can cause the oil light binks or ON.
One, always double check your oil level after someone changes it...If you didnt do it yourself that is..But either your oil level is low, or your oil pressure switch is going bad.....
the oil pressure sending unit must be defective - it should be located close to oil filter - if another sending unit is purchased you can compare the two - most sensors only plug up one way - the light should be working thru ground - light may not come on if sending unit is unplugged as a test
If it is not the suggested gasket that is leaking then it is the oil pressure switch located exactly above the oil filter adapter. The black plastic housing could have developed a crack and oil will ooze downward and drip off the bottom of the adapter. I had this problem and changing the oil pressure switch took care of it.
If the leak is coming directly from above the oil filter it is more than likely the oil pressure switch is leaking. The seal around the Oil pressure switch could have gone bad and now it is leaking.
The oil pressure switch is located right above the the oil filter and above the cooling system cross pipe.
when i started the car it goes to 50 when i press the gas pedal it goes to 80
it was 50 to 80if i press the gas pedal
