When trying to accelerate my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix it becomes sluggish even when i push the gas medal to the floor. It goes slow then picks up speed after a couple of minutes.
CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID IT COULD BE LOW OR YOU NEED A FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE.YOUR TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING REASON FOR SLUGGLISH TAKE OFF.
My 2001 Monte Carlo did the same and I had to replace the catalitic converter at 44000 miles. I got the "high flow" type. I also replace the fuel filter every 30000 miles.
