SOURCE: 2007 mercury montego rear light

You need to be more specific about which rear light blows the fuse(interior, stop or tail). If the car has an aftermarket alarm or autostart I would look there first, they are usually installed poorly and create these types of problems.

SOURCE: blows fuses

SOUNDS LIKE THE ALARM HORN IS SHORTED, CAUSING FUSE TO BLOW.
TRY UNPLUGGING ALARM HORN & SEE IF FUSE STILL BLOWS.
IF IT DOES NOT BLOW, REPLACE ALARM HORN.

Check under the dash at your Brake pedal interlock switch. It is timed with the gearshift Interlock and Ignition switch. This switch usually gets hit by feet and dislodged or broken. When you shift out of Park, the switch is toggling to a broken piece and shorting out.

The brake interlock switch is at the top half of the pedal lever. The other part of the Interlock uses a rod or cable in the steering column Ignition switch and mates with the shifting mechanism.

it could be the electronic blend door motor. Try not changing any settings for a week and see if the fuse blows. Leave it on floor/defrost.

usually it is the bearing in the blower motor going bad. I believe it's a 25 amp fuse. The motor draws about one amp for each volt increase up to 14 volts.

I just purchased and had installed an alpine pdx-1.1000 amp. powering 2 12" jbl's. while the owner was demonstrating this to me, we had it going loud, and it blew its 4 fuses. once he replaced the fuses,...

Technically, the manual says the amp should have 20A fuses, so by putting 25A fuses in, you've allowed more current to get to the amp before the fuses blow than recommended. I'd be more concerned about why the amp is blowing fuses.

If the subs are single 4 ohm voice coils and wired in parallel, you're fine. If they're dual 4 ohm voice coils, and everything (subs and voice coils) are in parallel, you're putting a 1 ohm load on the amp, which it's not rated for.

Fuse

Hi,

There are only a couple of components that could cause the fuse to blow. They are:
1. Reverse protection diode (D23)
2. filter capacitor (C123)
3. Outputs (TR14 & 15)
4. Audio Amp (IC4)
5. Zener Diodes (D22 & 19)
6. the fuse itself (it should be 2 Amps

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.
