The illuminated COG on the dashboard is the Transmission Fault Warning Light. The sound you're hearing is probably the transmission locked in "get home" mode or "limp" mode. If you're going to attempt to repair yourself you'll need to start with a quality BMW specific scan tool to see what the system says is causing the fault, then trouble shoot from there. I've used a Schwaben Elite scanner on several of my bimmers with great success.

SOURCE: doors on 2007 BMW 328i will not unlock

hey solo, 06-07 door lock actuators can blow a fuse in the glove box. bmw does have a specific bulletin that addresses this issue and requires replacing the fuse if blown and measure the resistance of all the door lock actuators to determine which is bad. the doors should be able to be opened with the key mechanically. if not for some reason, you should be able to comfort open the windows and will have to crawl inside the car. the fuse panel is inside the glove box and not fun to get to. I believe the fuse is a 10 or 15 amp fuse maybe 5th from the bottem right.

SOURCE: remote key does not open the door for 2007 328i BMW

I suggest you to check fuse # 57 15Amp at juction box, you can access it from glove box. if the fuse is blown, replace it with 20A and try to operates lock/unlock 10X and replce door lock fails to responce during the operation. dont operate lock/unlock 15X the system will stop and you have to wait for few min to function it again.

SOURCE: What does the big red

If this model has the runflat tyres, it could mean that the system has detected a punture or low tyre pressure. Check the pressure of all the tyres, and reset the system when the fault is rectified. The reset procedure is in the owners manual. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a warning light

it has detected a malfunction and it is trying to save your motor from damage. that is why it wont rev or gain power, it doesnt want you to. kinda like you just broke your leg and someone said get up and walk, yet your brain says no its gonna hurt or fail causing further damage. Could be a oil pressure, cam sensor, knock sensor, temp sensor. need to get a diagnostic check on that car, I dont think its a major issue if your car is running and you hear nothing out of the ordinary, I'm not saying to drive it either, It needs to be checked now to protect the motor and your pocket book.

2011 BMW 328i. Yellow exclamation mark, won't crank new battery installed and CAS module relay replaced. I don't know what else to do. Any recommendation?

When you disconnect the battery, it causes the anti-theft system pairing to break. On reconnecting the battery, the key and transponder chip need re-pairing. There are some ideas in the link, but with a BMW your best bet is to call a mobile auto-electrician or an auto locksmith. They both have pro grade scan tool computers that can reset the anti-theft system and diagnose any other electrical issues.

If the temperature control is on cool....sounds like you have other problems with AC. ( compressor not working, needs R134,) Check under the hood for a box that has fuses in it, their are also relays in it. Look for the relay marked AC.

Bmw will not start exclamation point on guage

If the exclamation mark is in the middle of a rough circle, then it means the transmission is in safe mode due to malfunction. Put the car in park and engage the parking break. Turn off the engine and wait. After 30 seconds, restart the car. If the light is no longer on, the transmission is back in normal performance. Take it to a mechanic to have things checked out. If the light remains on, the car will only operate in certain gears and driving performance will be limited. The car requires immediate attention from a BMW mechanic and should not be driven any more than necessary to get to the mechanic.might be speed sensor or transmission control module.

I have a bmw e46 auto and my warning light is a orange cog with a exclamation mark in middle, with this i dont have no reverse or semi auto gears, how can i fix this. thanks

this doesnt sound good. sounds like your auto box has went into safe mode, which is enough to get you too a dealer. this only happens when there is a catastrophic gear box failure.
get BMW to plug in the diagnostics, it may just need reset.
