Should be fairly easy. Remove the door panel. May be 4 screws or more hidden. And some clips that you will need a pry bar to pull the panel off. My chevy truck just lifts up. Super easy. So tug and pull and see what you find then once the panel is off you can get to the handle. So handles have screws or clips holding them on. Some you dont even need to remove the door panels. Their is a rod on the back that will need to be popped off. And remove the handle. Replace and reinstall parts as removed

There's two screws by the handle, pull those out and you'll see how it all connects on the inside. I was able to remove my broken one, and drill a hole into the plastic where it broke and reuse it - it's lasted over 4 years now.

The Door Panel Has Got To Be Removed.
Start By Removing The Handle Cover You Mentioned On The Handle Careful Not To Break It . A Small Screwdriver Can Help.
Next Remove Black Piece By The Window By Pulling It Strait Outward. Then Remove The Screw Cover On The Actual Handle You Use To Close The Door. Remove The Screw From Below It And There Is One Under The Front Edge Of It As Well. There is 2 screw along the bottom edge of the door as well. then remove screw up by the mirror. now remove this little plastic clip right on the side closest to the outer edge by pressing the center and pulling the whole thing out. Then There Are 2 10mm screw that hold on the door latch remove and slide the whole handle forward and it should come free. Now Reverse all these steps with the new handle in place.
THIS SEEMS HARDER THEN IT IS I PROMISE.

SOURCE: To remove the interior door panel of a 1996 Toyota camry so that
My 96 Camry LE has 9 attachments that are visible. Some have plastic caps covering the screws; others do not. There are screws at the door handle, at the forward portion(with covers) when the door is open and the back edge (small covers). As I recall, there are several friction type fasteners around the perimiter of the panel that can be removed by prying carefully away from the metal portion of the door to free up the trim panel. Once these are loose, the trim around the inside door release handle (the one you pull to open the door) can be pryed in a backward motion. Then the entire panel can be removed by pulling upward and backward at the same time (it easier to do this with the window down). Then it is a matter of disconnecting the wires attached to the various controls for the electric windows and door locks to free up the panel itself. There is probably a plastic skin covering the metal portion of the door. Carefully pull that away to expose the inner workings of the door latch mechanisim. The rest of the procedure should become easy to figure out. I have not removed the exterior door handle itself; but it is a simple mechanism as I recall. Best of luck to you.

take off the door panel and unscrew it.
SOURCE: Replace left hand inside door handle
There should be 2 screws on the panel, one near the lower pocket and one holding the handle in. Remove both of them and with a flat head screwdriver, carefully begin prying the panel away from the door as you pull the panel toward yourself with the other hand. You just want to release the plastic door panel inserts from the edges and center of the panel. You can then disconnect any clips for power door locks, windows, etc. The rod is connected to the handle by a small clip at the base, release the clip and pull the rod vertically up and out of the handle. Remove and replace the handle and reverse the steps for installation. When you are ready to reinstall the door panel, line up the clips to the holes on the door and strike the panel with your hand using the base of your palm to secure the panel to the door.
