Seat belt Driver's side

The seat belt on the driver's side is no longer working. It just hangs.
The car is a 94 geo prizm. I took the asembly apart and I can wind it up manualy, but it does not release it. Any recomendations?

I would definitely recommend to replace the seat belt assembly... The only way to know for sure that the seat belt will work properly in the event of a crash is to replace it... Even if you do repair it so it winds back there is no guarantee the repair will hold when you really need it to...

the prizm is a toyota.
they had 3 engines.

your engine sides sideways. FWD car.
this fact makes service hard. unlike RWD cars. and trucks.
the crank pulley and pump are on the right side (drivers perceptive)
seen left, facing engine bay.

see the top of engine, that is the valve cover
look to the left
see that wider part, that is the cam cog and belt side.

what you really need are all the instructions on how to do this
and not mess it up;.

How do you open the trunk of a 94 geo prizm if you lock your keys in the trunk?

On the 94 geo prizm the back seats fold down, They are a split back seat so there is a button on either side on top of the upper seat.

Where is the Geo Prizm's computer located at?

Under hood, driver side, upper firewall area, mounted on front side of strut tower. this is the location of dlc conector.

pcm location:
Sometimes, they are in the right-hand kick panel (in front of the passenger door) or near the glove box.
Other times they are located under the passenger seat.

remove the screws from the front and rear door jambs(2 or 3) pull on the plastic cover,it should pop out. Only held in place by plastic prongs

1999 Dodge 2500 passenger side seat belt wont release

so after completely tearing the seat apart I found 2 wires going up to the seat belt mechanism from under the seat, these wires got caught in the seat mechanism underneath and were shredded. There must be a small solenoid inside the seat belt mechanism because I could hear it click after I repaired the wires(this circuit is live even with the ignition off) Im not sure how it all works but this solved my problem.
