It sounds like the core of your speedometer cable is rubbing the outer housing. The speedometer cable runs from the inst panel, thru the firewall, and onto the side of the transmission that faces the driver. This is not a hard job to do, but, when replacing the cable, take care to not break the ears off of the part that hooks on to the back of the speedometer.

Replaced input and output speed sensors for erratic speedometer. Now the speedometer remains at 0. Anyone have a suggestion on what else could be wrong?

input and out put speed sensors tell the TCM and the ECM the difference between engine rpms and transmission input roms so that the correct gear ratio can be selected
A speedo sensor reads the out put shaft (drive line ) shaft and refers to road speed for speed and odometer readings and to calculate the fuel consumption rate
it is possible that you have replaced the wrong sensor
Talk with an accredited transmission specialist shop and have the problem diagnosed

My speedometer goes up and down , and my radio goes on and off

The speedometer can fluctuate rapidly under normal driving conditions when the car's speed changes abruptly, but sometimes the needle can start swinging around the dial without any fluctuation in speed. If the hairspring comes loose or breaks, it can't hold the speed cup in place, and the result is a fluctuation in the dial. In electrical speedometers, if the circuit that counts the magnetic pulses fails, it can cause the speedometer read-out to vary from the actual speed and to shoot upward or downward without notice. If a speed sensor in the automatic transmission starts to malfunction, it can affect the speedometer and cause fluctuations. In these instances, either the speedometer or the sensor needs replacement.

Speeedometer cable location, cable seems to be loose?

Your vehicle's speedometer doesn't have a cable that drives it, the speedometer is all electronic and uses information from a speed sensor to operate a servo motor in order to move the speedometer needle. If your speedometer is erratic or sticks at one speed then you may have a bad servo motor in the dash unit. The instrument clusters are repairable should this be the problem. Good luck and hope this helps!

Speedometer erratic...replaced fuse and was ok for 24 hours Honda Civic 1998

Hi:
Your speedometer is driven by a speed sensor that is on the top side of the transmission. It would be worth your trouble to locate it, and unplug the electrical connector to see if it is clean and connected well. If everything looks ok, you are down to it or the actual speedometer unit.

Usually, if the transmission speed sensor is bad, you have other driveability issues too, so you might have just a minor problem.

Cummins Diesel Truck Erratic Speedometer and Shifting

Although you didn't mention it, the speedometer probably bounces also. Replacing the speed sensor on the side of the transmission should solve both your problems. Good luck

Fuses blown do not have manual to help locate fuses

The fuse panel should be below the steering wheel to the left. A blown fuse would explain why the electronic speedometer isn't working, but a blown fuse wouldn't explain the OD light. If the speedometer starts to work after replacing the fuse, but reads erratically, you might want to check the vehicle speed sensor.
