You have to take it to a mechanic who has the BMW service reset tool. You might have to pay for this service.

Here is a good page with a diagram and the steps to do it without the tool. Bear in mind, this is NOT a proper technique and i stand by my first solution.

It IS for resetting the service indicator light. ECU codes are cleared in a completely different fashion. i found a blog with this technique. Does it sound familiar?
>SIA, SERVICE INTERVAL DISPLAY, RESETTING THE SIA IS POSSIBLE ONLY AFTER 20% OF THE EXPECTED FUEL? USAGE HAS BEEN CONSUMED FOLLOWING THE PREVIOUS RESET.

Hi turn you key on clear the mileage with the little button , remove key . repeat this turn the key on hold the button till you get a mark between the press the buutton till you get the peature u want to clear hold in for 10/15 sec it will clear then remove key and repeat if there are other faults
If you BMW has no key and has the newer keyfob, just insert the keyfob and without pressing your clutch press the start button once to put the ignition on. The steps above worked for me.

You have to have it done by a dealer, there is no way to do it without the computer they have, they aren't like chevy's where you can push the brake pedal three times..

You can also take a paper clip (can mess things up, but I use it) And have it touch the 7th & 19th pin inside the service port.
