I took my 2004 gmc envoy xl in to have the a/c filled up...

I took my 2004 gmc envoy xl in to have the air conditioner filled up and he stated that the 2004 gmc envoy's are noted for having leaky compressors and that most likely was what was wrong with it. My best bet was to test the a/c and go from there...more than likely having to purchase a compressor running for 400$ for a rebuilt compressor and 1000 for a new one plus labour etc. Does this sound right? Are the 2004's noted for having leaky compressors?

Your local auto parts store should have the stuff to tests for leaks. They should have a can of ac refill that has a an additive to repair small leaks.

You don't state if you have an XL or standard body. The rear blower on both have a fuse to the blower that could be blown.

Is there a cabin air filter in a 2004 gmc envoy xl?
I'm pretty durn sure that Envoys and Trailblazers don't have one. Our Haynes manual doesn't reference one at all. I also checked a couple of website's I use for Trailblazers and Envoys, doesn't have one there either. I know mine doesn't have one. Kind of surprises me, since the Envoy is the luxury version of the Trailblazer.

I have a 2004 Envoy XL when you use the air conditioner or the defrost the RPMs drops and either acts like it is going to die or it does die. When testing for codes nothing came up. The only time it acts...
The throttle body needs to be cleaned, grime in this area prevents the throttle plate from closing completely and allowing air to enter, making the air/fuel mixture lean. Make sure to disconnect the battery while doing this procedure, this will reset the computer and allow it to relearn with a clean throttle body.

No cold air w/air conditioner on for a 2004 GMC Envoy.
Can't go by the pressure. Ck the large lone coming out of firewall, should be col. Small line at ac condensor in front of radiator should be hot.

Static pressure on high side probably 80psI Running 30 on the low side and 1130. will vary depending on oiutside temp Hope this hekoped
