SOURCE: 2002 Dodge Intrepid transmission not shifting

Flush out your transmission with the correct type fluid, Mopar ATF+4, and correct filter. Disconnect Negative cable, to reset computer, for at least 24 hours. Check grounding straps for PCM, ensure they are tight and clean.
This method worked on my 2003 Intrepid SE, 3.5L, Police Pkg car.
Good Luck!!

SOURCE: High Pitch whine during acceleration

First you need to isolate the noise. You don't mention the mileage on the car. Do you have the supercharged engine? If you do, remove the belt for the super and make sure that is not the problem. If you still hear the noise approximately below or from the super area, it is most likely the belt tensioner pulley.
In my car there was a large washer over the pulley (original equipment), as the pulley wobbled on the bad bearings, it would cause a sound like a bad alternator or gear whine getting exponentially worse the faster the engine reved. Now that the part is replaced, you can barely hear the engine idle and is significantly quieter at high RPM.
My car - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 66,000miles.

SOURCE: High Pitch whine during acceleration

Hi Pullerwife,

I have a few suggestions for you,

First of all, check your air filter, make sure its clean, not clogged, and doesn't need to be changed.

I don't know how handy you are, but if you are fairly handy, check the idler pulley bearings, if your not, have a shop check it out, as a last resort.

Power steering pump/fluid being low is also a possibility, but thats usually more of a lower pitched whine then what you describe.

You say once the vehicle is warmed up, the whining stops. Does Weather seem to be a factor as well?

Hope I've helped, and don't forget to rate.

SOURCE: engine or transmission knock / rattle upon

I had the same problem on my 2006 Lucerne and it was the engine mount located on the front of the vehicle behind the radiator.

Starts missing /large dead stop when accelerating

The missing while accelerating is likely due to ignition coils and/or spark plugs going bad. The missing while in park is a normal thing. The car has a rev limiter that will not allow the engine to rev to higher than 3000 RPM while in park.

How reset oil change light 2011 charger

Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The "Oil Change Due" message will
flash in the EVIC display for approximately 10 seconds
after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next
scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change
indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon
your personal driving style.

Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position. To
turn off the message temporarily, press and release the
MENU button. To reset the oil change indicator system
(after performing the scheduled maintenance), perform
the following procedure:

1. Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE
START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the ON/
RUN position (Do not start the engine.)

2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal, slowly, three times
within 10 seconds.

3. Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE
START/STOP button once to return the ignition to the
OFF/LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

My 1996 GMC half ton 2wd revs up to about 2000 rpm on start up without touching the accelerator. After a few seconds, it goes back to normal. Also, when you put it into drive or reverse, it accelerates...

If the throttle cable is not attached properly to the throttle body or you have a bad motor mount, the throttle cable may be pulling the throttle open as you shift into gear. Open the hood, find the throttle cable on the throttle body. Inspect how it is connected and also how the cable is fastened in the engine comoartnent. Next, watch what happens as someone else starts the truck and puts it into gear. If the engine shifts significantly, check for broken motor mounts. If the throttle cable is misbehaving, correct the installation.

To begin with, if you are revving a cold engine to 6000 RPM, you are asking for a blown engine. Most OBD vehicles are equipped with a rev limiter that will cut off fuel at 3000 to 4000 rpm to prevent you from over-revving your engine and blowing it up. If yours is revving to 6000 RPM cold, then the rev limiter, for some reason is not working while it is cold. I have no explaination for this. The best thing I can tell you is to stop revving your engine so high when it is cold unless you really want to see what an engine looks like after is has gone off like a grenade.

Year 2000 Nubira Wagon automatic. When starting the revs are way to high. Any permanent way to fix... Thanks Peter

1997 nubira wagon high revs at idle. We disconnected the battery and turned the headlights on to remove any residual stored power then waited for 10 to 15 mins. Connect the battery and turn the ignition on and off 5 times without starting the car now start the car without touching the accelerator pedal. This worked for us as it seems to reset the computer. We have had to do this periodicaly to keep the problem in check. Hope this helps.
