Why would you change the fuel pump? Fuel Pumps work or they don't work at all. They have the correct pressure to make the vehicle run, or they don't. They don't make the vehicle run a bit slower when going up a hill or accelerating. Stop guessing what the fault is. You need to check the engine diagnostic code when the light comes on. The code tells you the fix. You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer. It can record what happens on a drive. You can drive him and the computer to that hill and record it.
the NOT TOLD LIST. 1: NO VIN TOLD OR COUNTRY ! wow ! 2: NOT TOLD DTC ERRORs CODES SEEN ON SCAN TOOl.? 3: NO TOLD IF HAVE ABS. brakes. 4: GOT AWD OR FWD, >? 2wd or 4wd? 5: AUToMATIC TRANSMISSION 4SPEED. or manual box. GF-SXN10 (this box?)
ENGINE D4 MEANS DIRECT INJECTED, 3S-fe
"2.0 L I4 DOHC 3S-FE (YES)D4 2.0 L I4 DOHC 1AZ-FSE(no) The D-4 engine car was equipped with a SuperECT with a flex lockup."<<, means early TCC lockup open can wonder to do that the a/t box may have 2 or 3 sensors to do that smoothy but gee no such transmission here in USA.
a car this old can have 7 speed sensors. 4 abs 1 to 3 on A/T box or just 1 or just one for AWD VSS1. or just 1 for manual transmission.
that is why we beg for VIN. so we know what is under the skins (body shell) of the car. if you buy the service manual for this car the answer is there !
As the engine starts and the engine light is on it means the engine management system has discovered a fault that will affect the exhaust emissions. The fault will be recorded in the system memory and that can be retrieved by plugging a JOBD2 compliant scanner or code reader into the OBD port.
I think you should try this website big-manuals . It helps you repair your vehicle easily without more help. Ask the girl in chat at the bottom of the page
