When you disconnect your battery or remove the fuse and then reconnect itagain, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your carradio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. Ifyou do not have this code you need to go to your vehicle manufacrurers service centre andget them to enter this code for you.

Should be a plastic card similar to a credit card with your owners manual packet. It will have a 4 digit code number on it. There is a slot at dash level in the driver's side door. turn the ignition to the position where your dash lights come on and turn on the radio. Insert the card into the slot and, using the numbers on the radio, punch in the card code number. Radio should come back to life. If no card can be found, contact a Chevy dealer fo a replacement card.

I had to replace battery cable--radio now does not work without "code" --anti theft code supposedly either put in by factory or previous owner (i bought it used at car dealer), local chev dealer could not find code and was no help. am i the only one that has this problem?? other than buying new radio what can i do? thanks![/QUOTE]

if the battery was disconnected and most likely was yes you will need a code or since there is no power you say to it check the fuses to ensure the fuse is not blown they are labeled start with this area 1 st

Check your fuse for your radio it may have blown. Hope this helps

Here's an easier way. Purchase a 9 volt battery powered radio / computer MEMORY RETAINER. Plug into your cigarette lighter/power socket SECURELY. AFTER replaceing the battery, remove 9 volt poer feed, and BINGO. Radio stations memory, clock will all RETAIN. their memory. Hope this helps

sometimes the proceedure is in your ownwers manuel(sometimes the code is on the back of the radio.

If you mean change the code needed to input into the radio then the only way it to take it apart and reprogram it. That would cost more then the radio itself.

So if you can't get the code in your either have the fix the button or get another radio.
