You might want to try an old trick that I have use twice in life but it accomplished the goal without problem.
When you are due for an oil change, preferably with the oil level somewhat low (don't overfill), add a quart of kerosene to the crankcase and let the engine idle for 20-30 minutes; do NOT drive it or race the engine since the kerosene is a lousy lubricant and you want it to function only as a solvent for the possible buildup of sticky crud that might be impeding things.
Drain the crankcase completely, allowing the thing to drip for an hour to get the majority of the oil-kerosene mix out of the engine and then fill 'er up with fresh oil.
If you decide to try this, please post back to this thread so hat others might benefit from your experience.

depending all that is done about $300 dollars thats 12 lifters test 12 push rods replase rods $4.00 each rocker arm cover gasket oil filter and oil change afterwords. This does not include any replacement of oil pump or flushing which may be required, also would recommend a top engine clean before doing lifter replacement so when you change the oil once.

If the noise still sounds like it's on top, I'd remove the valve covers and check the rocker arms to make sure they aren't broken or worn. Also crank the engine over and observe how far each travels. If any are different, a lifter or lifter and cam have gone bad.
If your oil pressure is low or the noise is deep inside the engine, likely you have a crank bearing problem. In most cases it's more economical to get a scrapyard replacement rather than do a rebuild.
Before doing anything like that, have an experienced tech listen to it. Only other thing that can make a noise like that is a broken flywheel. A good tech can tell the difference between noises and give you better advice than I can because he can hear it.
