I have a 1996 Acura 3.2TL[V6] and it is overheating...

My Acura 3.2TL is overheating... My thermostat was changed and my radiator was changed 2 months ago... My car over heats with steam coming from the hood... A closer look shows the steam coming from the reservoir which is connected to the radiator by a small diameter hose... The fluid inside the reservoir appears to be boiling... steam/smoke comes out of the reservoir cap... upon removal of the cap[with hose], there is hot smoke/steam coming out...

no steam is visible from the radiator or the larger diameter radiator hoses... under the vehicle, there is no evidence of a leak, there appears to be no fluid on the ground or leaking... upon starting and reving the engine, there is NO blue or NO white smoke coming from the exaust... The radiator hoses appear to be fine [hot to the touch when overheating]...

I just bought this car to get around on the way i noticed the anti. Was boiling i checked the radiator cap the antifreeze was low then i checked the cap to the reservoir the hose was loose and the antifreeze was full filled up the radiator cleaned out reservoir filled it up no problems that little hose caused all the problems because it was pumping the antifreeze out but none coming back into the radiator overflowing then the radiator was about empty causing to overheat also i noticed the gauge would fluctuate when the car would bounce brake go through curves fluid level was low sometimes its the simple things that are the culprit hope this helps someone.

I had the same problem, whole new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, and still overheating. What the problem was for me...bad radiator cap...all that money and a $20 fix...try it?

Testimonial: "YES... I HAD THIS DONE ALREADY... BUT IT HAPPENED EXACTLY AS YOU SAID... THANKS ANYWAY!!!"

I was having that same exact problem about a month ago. I took it to the mechanic, and they changed the thermostat and radiator cap, which had a blown seal. It was still overheating after that, and the head gasket ended up needing to be replaced. $2500 later it is running fine now, but apparently this engine has a history of these problems. It was worth it to repair though, the car is still worth $5000.

Thermostat improperly installed. (backwards) Or possibly you could have a blown head gasket and a bad thermostat at the same time. The head gasket could be letting exhaust gasses into the cooling system. A bad (stuck open) thermostat could "mask" this problem by allowing the coolant to circulate through the radiator when it is not supposed to. Thus, installing a new thermostat would trap the exhaust gasses in the cylinder head and cause the overheating.

i had a 1993 with v6 had multipule problems with cooling system mechanic changed water pump and thermostat it overheated on the way home from him i found the little hose missing from inside the overflow tank so it couldnt take back from it i replaced that and it didnt overheat for a couple of months then the hydrulic radiator fad stopped working it was the sending unit on the engine that worked for a couple more months then i found the radiator caps were bad it has 2 of them . ( your radiator could also be clogging up its old ) then a year later the head gasket went car was never overheated bad to where the coolant was steaming out either so that is probably what you are in for its an old car . hope this helps

1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...

From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.

96 Acura RL overheating.

have you changed the thermostat? located at upper hose opposite radiator end in the gooseneck (usually 2 screws) make sure you buy a gasket or gasket making compound if changing. most overheats occur due to stuck thermostat (doesn't open to cool) you could pull tstat out for temp fix but it wouldn't heat well in colder weather

Car overheating

if ur antifreeze keeps showing low or none , there is a leak in the system. check for leaks in the radiator or in the colling systems piping.

1993 Acura Legend Overheating.

This could happen if your fan is indeed weak.  To test disconnect the thermostat of the radiator by removing the terminals near the radiator hose towards the engine.  You should see the fan run at its highest speed, then you can check if your fan has weakened.
