How can I turn my 2009 Cadillac cts off since the key doesn't turn and motor is running

By disconnecting the battery, you also disconnected all the set up of the security and engine immobilizer coding.

KMTANNER is correct for the 2003-2007 CTS. For the 2008+ CTS, you need to remove the bumper. The bumper comes off fairly easy, but there are a 2 hidden screws. Look for the youtube video on removing the bumper. I have a 2004 and 2009 CTS. I did both.

You probably already tried it but just in case you haven't, try urning your steering wheel left and right while turning the key. Besides being the wrong key, this is the most common cause

your ignition switch needs replaced, or the lock cylinder that holds the key if it just turns freely. it will need to be taken somewhere, it's not that easy of a job. hurry before you run out of gas!! how are you shutting it off? if you can find it, you could pull the fuel pump relay, but the lites are probably on also and will drain the battery

Look for a plastic plug directly under key in bottom of column. Under plug is a switch take small philips screwdriver & push on switch while turning key backward to take out.
