So after you push the button and then press the set button in the steering wheel it does not get into cruise control ? It sounds like a minor electrical problem. If you have warranty still I think the dealership should fix it for free.

Sorry i have not been able to help you.

SOURCE: 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. Windshield wipers, Cruise Control

May want to look at replacing the wiper circuit board. It is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor and has a some what square black cover with 3 torx screws and wireing harness pluged into the side.We had a truck that every time you washed it the wipers would stay on until it dryed out.You can try removing it and spaying it down with contact cleaner just watch the brease on the two contact tips.Well hope this helps.

How to fix cruise control that is not engaging. What should be checked/tried 1st, 2nd, etc.

certainly sounds suspect
As a point of interest, any parts removed are yours by law and have to be given back to you
so ask for the old parts and have them checked by an accredited auto electrician
the cruise control is operated by several sensors and if any one is not operational the control will not work
1-- vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
2--engine rpms system
3-- ( if manual) clutch sensor
4-- brake sensor
5---ECM
one button is working but the other side (set button ) is controlled by the VSS, brake (clutch) sensors and the ecm or RPM system
cruise controls will not engage under certain speeds or RPMS what all that means is that if the road speed is below a set point, engine rpms are below a point or VSS is faulty , the cruise control will not engage until those conditions are exceed ,or will disengage if conditions fall below the set points b

How do you use cruise control?

Should be a operater manual with car, if not, the left side of steering wheel is a small handle. On the end is a button. In the middle is a "resume" switch that is pussed with your thumb. While driving push the end button, the car should engage and power without your foot on the peddle. To go faster push the middle switch with your thumb toward steering wheel and that will increase the speed. When you put on the brake the cruise control should dis-engage. Need to practice with this on a safe road. You may need to go at least 40mph for it to operate. When the cruise is engaged a dash light should come on saying "cruise" - Good luck

The cruise control power comes on but won't engage

Sounds to me you have a break in one of the cruise control wires either in the collum or on the control stick. If the cruise control is mounted in the steering wheel, then it is deffential in the collum. I STRONGLY suggest not to drive the car until you fix this. I had simular problem in a car I had, one time as I turned, the broken wire shorted over and the cruise accelurator kicked in and nearly caused a crash.

Cruise control won't engage

most likely the clock spring is not the problem because when u push the button the dash light cruise comes on.wich means that you do not have an open circuit.with a light tester check to see if you are getting power to the cruise control servo.if you are then replace it.if no power you will need a new cruise control stick on the steering column.

Left running lamps, cruise control, horn do not operat and air bag dash light on

Hello. Is your ABS light on?Do you hear a click noise when you turn the steering wheel? If it is,you probably have a faulty clockspring. That electronic piece controls all of those things. The clockspring is located behind the steering wheel. You have to remove the steering wheel in order to access the clockspring. MAKE SURE that the steering wheel is straight ahead before you remove it.
