My 2014 Ford Ikon 1.6 is overheating the fan can't work. Please help.

  • stephen peirce Aug 21, 2019

Check your fuses and fan relays also unplug it and there's a black wire run the negative from the battery to it and the red one to the positve terminal to see if the fan motor works if so now we know the motor is good and if your fuses are good check the relays by putting new ones in and if it still doesn't work your coolant temperature sensor is bad or you have a broken wire try turning on the ac or defroster the fan should come on if it does go back to the temperature sensor and change it

Check the coolant temp sensor and wiring. Make sure it can make good contact at the connector.

The fans won't kick on then you need to replace the coolant temp sensor this runs your fans.

that sounds like a faulty coolant temp sensor, if it fails you will have to hold the gas to get it to start and the computer will not know when to turn the fan on.

SOURCE: help ford ikon 1600 overheating after i replaced

check that you put the thermostat in the right way. The body of the unit has to be in the head / block water. Simple check is to start from cold and within 5-10 minutes idling you should start to feel hot water coming through the top radiator hose.. If in ok the bleed the air out of the cooling system by loosing off the highest hose and let the air out until you get solid water flow . Run the engine while doing this so that the water is circulated by the pump. Make sure that the heater core is open to allow the air in it to be removed

Radiator fan doesnt switch off.

Many vehicles are set up to run the radiator(/ac condenser) fan whenever the air conditioning is on. Might this be the case here - is the air conditioning on when on the open road? Just a thought.
