SOURCE: 95 tbird want crank. replaced fuel pump still want crank

Hey Poochbear,

I had this prob with my Avenger where it would keeping cranking and turning over and wouldnt start, turned out my distributor and crank sensor went out. Once i got those parts replaced, it fired right up. Also check to see if your car has an ignition module. But 9xs out of ten its usually the 1st of the 2 that i mentioned.

Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Doesn't get fire since replacing fuel pump.

Normally after replacement of the fuel pump you need to get the fuel flowing back through the system again. To do this, turn the ignition key until you hear the fuel pump kick in for a few seconds, then turn key back to off. Repeat this several times to get the fuel flowing. If this doesn't help, you will need to ensure that the fuel pump is actually coming on. Let me know

SOURCE: Engine cranks over. Will not fire. Seems like no

Remove the air intake and spray starting fluid into the throttle body while someone is attempting to start the truck (use short burst and don't use too much). If the truck starts and runs briefly then you have a fuel delivery problem. I'm assuming that this truck is fuel injected, so turn the key to the on position and listen for the fuel pump humming. Also, have a mechanic check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Any auto parts store can tell you what the fuel pressure should be. If it is below the accepted threshold then your fuel pump is bad. Also check for a relay that controls the fuel pump (rather than a fuse)

Yes, they can. With no warning whatsoever, in some cases. Do you not hear it turn on for a couple seconds with key on? Try some starting fluid sprayed into the engine, then crank it. If it fires up and runs a few seconds, you know it is a gas problem.
The definitive test for a bad pump is to check for power on the pump wire at the gas tank connector, when the engine is cranking over. If power there and no pump, the pump is bad. If no power getting to the pump when cranking, the pump circuit needs checked-check the fuel pump fuse, there is also a fuel pump relay under the hood.

Everything ignition wise has been replaced. still no fuel or fire, then replaced the crank shaft position sensor and problem solved. drove a couple of days shut off driving back to the same thing...

Have you checked your cranking fuel pump pressure? In your inquiry above you state "still no fuel or fire"....

When replacing the crankshaft sensor, did you make sure that the paper spacer on the sensor tip was in place? This is put there to give the proper spacing for the tip. Upon the first crank, the rotation pulls the paper off and allows the sensor to read.

88 chevy truck 5.7 engine not firing

WHAT I WOULD DO IS TEST THE FUEL PRESSURE SOME TIMES THE PUMP WILL PUMP ENOUGH FUEL TO GET TO THE TBI BUT NOT ENOUGH TO FIRE THE TRUCK. IF FUEL PRESSURE IS GOOD REMOVE THE DISTBURTOR CAP AND INSPECT THE CAP AND ROTOR, CHECK FOR CORROTION N EITHER ONE SOME TIMES IS BUILDS UP AND STOPS THE SPARK. GIVE THAT A TRY GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS.

I own a 1994 Nissan Altima. It run out of gas an I had getting it to fire up. Once I got it cranked it maybe drove 150 yards spit an sputtered an then died. Now I can't get it to start at all.

possibly the fuel pump. fuel running thru the pump is what keeps the pump cool. if it runs out of gas it will get too hot and fry the pump. running one out of fuel causes a lot of pumps to go bad. id start by checking fuel pressure

6 cyl 2.9. drove to work fine. turned off. 15

all i can say is check for power and ground at the fuel pump. get someone to turn the key to the on position (not crank!) and use a test light to see if you are getting power.
