SOURCE: noisy startup when cold, sounds like valve

Hello onarock844...The Hyundai 2.4 litre and the 3.3 litre are known to have valve train noise. Some sooner than others.
The timing chain tensioners on the 06 and 07 Sonata 3.3 engines built before August 4, 2006 are well known for developing wear that allows them to make a tapping or rattling noise for a short time after a cold start. This noise can be mistaken for a lifter noise, although the actual source is in the front cover area of the engine. Hyundai has released a technical service bulletin on this problem, which describes installation of an updated design timing chain tensioner (part #24410-3C300) to correct this noise issue.
Ask your dealer to refer to Hyundai service bulletin #06-20-002 for information...If this has already been corrected,,,and the noise is coming from the upper engine area and not from the timing chain area, then the valve clearance will need to be adjusted. This is done by disassembling the valve train and installing slightly different size tappets to change clearance.
This is a fairly labor intensive process, so if you are still under factory warranty then you will want to go over the dealer's head and get the Hyundai zone rep involved to get it covered before your warranty coverage expires...
I recommend useing a full synthetic engine oil, i know in a few cases where the noise has stopped when the oil was changed over to synthenic, also a high quality filter is important, such as a purolator.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.

SOURCE: why is my hyundai i10 supplying too much fuel to the engine

Is this a diffrent type of pump then the factory pump? if so then that may be your problem and the fuel pressure is to high, or a bad fuel pressure regulator . A scan tool would be helpful to check the air fuel sensor readings along with the short term and long term fuel readings.

Testimonial: "The problem was resolved before I got your response but it helped me to confirm that what was done is correct. We actually changed the fuel pump. Thanks."

What is the tappert setting on a 1998 Hyunda H100 2.6 diesel bakkie?

The valve clearance specification for a 1998 Hyundai H100 2.6 diesel bakkie is:
Intake valve clearance: 0.25 - 0.35 mm (0.010 - 0.014 in) Exhaust valve clearance: 0.45 - 0.55 mm (0.018 - 0.022 in)
The tappet setting for this engine will depend on the specific valve clearance measurements for each valve. If the valve clearances are found to be outside of the specification, the tappet settings will need to be adjusted accordingly. It is recommended to refer to the manufacturer's service manual for detailed instructions on how to perform the adjustment procedure.

What is the tappet clearance on 2006 I10 model Engine D4BB hyundai. also why would the revs go high if there is nothing wrong with the cable, I suspect it might be the oil on the injectors

Sorry don't know the valve clearances, though a large number of modern engines use hydraulic tappets theses days.

A great many modern vehicles use a fly-by-wire throttle/accelerator system where there is no throttle cable - both of these things might or might not apply to your car so you need to do further research.

The computer decides and controls the idle speed by sending signals either to the throttle position stepper motor or the idle air valve. The computer uses ambient air temperature, coolant temperature and other information to decide what the settings will be.
I have encountered a Hyundai that had high revs on starting but that rapidly settled to a normal idle. The dealer told us that was fairly normal and we couldn't find a fault - if there was a fault it would probably have been in the software.

Not sure what you mean by oil on the injectors - sorry, perhaps you should provide a better description...

Dont think you will . as most are hydraulic now .Lift the rocker box cover and look for adjuster nuts on the top of the pushrod arms .Best to get a valve cover gasket or seal before you remove the rocker box..

WhY is Orange exclamation mark on in hyundai I10

This is your "Low Tire Pressure" warning light. Check the tires for proper inflation. If all the tires have the correct amount of air, then more than likely, there is a faulty tire pressure sensor. These sensors are mounted inside the tire as part of the valve stem. You will need to find a shop that has a scan-tool that can read the outputs from these sensors to find which is faulty.

Valve clearance Hyundai i10 4 cil. 1.1 l

The valve clearance specifications are as follows:
• Engine coolant temperature: 20°C [68°F]
• Limit Intake : 0.10 ~ 0.30mm (0.0039 ~ 0.0118in.)
• Exhaust: 0.20 ~ 0.40mm (0.0079 ~ 0.0157in.)
Also, look at your car's owner's manual ato figure out how to check your valve clearance once you've put about 60K miles to it, and there it will also tell you what the specifications should be.
