Check the air inlet and air outlet are not obstructed. These heaters have a thermal cut off to stop it overheating. It is usually something causing a restriction of air flow.

Installed diesel heater in caravan and it has 12.4 volts in earth wire is this correct.

I have no experience of diesel heaters and you don't give many details; supply voltage, etc., however if the ground or earth connection is good, ie., a firm connection through a good cable to ground (whether ground is the caravan chassis or a mains earth), the voltage at the ground connection of the heater should be zero.

Expert van 2lhdi 2005 very poor starting in cold weather had glow plugs and relay fitted still no better. i only do 3000 a year and mainly short jouneys less the 5 miles. new battery last year. it does...

Firstly fit a manual overide to the heater plugs .relay -push button type switch -wire -connectors ,run a wire direct from battery to relay ,other side to heater plug relay output so it feeds all the heaters ,push button inside cab with a 12v feed from ignition switch running to relay then other side of relay to earth ,leave vehicle on charge often on trickle charge where possible ,also on a full tank of diesel put in a litre of petrol to stop diesel waxing up ,nice old rug or blanket over engine and it will first time every time ,only use the petrol when weather below minus 5c though ,great vehicles these peugeots but i do like my ford transit

I have a 1998 Didge Caravan and for some reason the cooling fans will not shut off? Any ideas??

This is a general ideaof how it works. A temp sensor is attached on the engine. When the sensor determines that it needs cooling it send a turn on signal to the ECM or directly to a relay. The sensor using small amounts of current to turn on a larger amount of current to run the fan/fans. This is also shared by the air condioning system which turns on the fans to cool for A/C. Three possibilities: The temp sensor is stuck on/shorted or the rely is shorted or A/C switch is shorted. Most times the switch shorts to ground to activate the the fans. For example the engine temp turn on shorts to ground to cause the fans to come on. If the sensor is shorted all the time it is bad. You can trouble shoot with an OHM meter if your up to it or a good honest mechanic can easly find you problem. Good Luck

What is the codes for a 95 dodge caravan 3.0 v6 it's blinks twice

The 95 Caravan is great for giving you trouble codes. However they are two digit codes. There should be a blink sequence followed by a short pause then another blink sequence (example 2 blinks, short pause, 3 blinks... Then 5 blinks, pause, 5 blinks which means no more codes. Turn key from off to run three times and leave in run and watch check engine light to count blinks. Disconnecting negative terminal on battery for 30 seconds clears codes.

I have a 1999 dodge caravan , there is a sound that seems to be comming from the glovebox i sounds like a printer running when i turn the heat on it smells like plastic burning what can this be

Hi there,

Does this noise occur at all times, or only when you operate the heater/air con?

If the latter, then as a guess, I would suspect perhaps a leaf (or other foreign particle) has entered your vehicle's air inlet (below your windscreen or front air intake) and made its way down to your heater BLOWER FAN.

Alternatively, there could be a short or burnt component, causing the smell.

Would require someone who knows how to get into the blower assembly, to check for possible culprit.

Cheers,

When i turn my heater on on my 2000 dodge caravan i blows cold air whyis that

Check your coolant reservoir under the hood. Your water/antifreeze mixture is probably low. If it is like many other Dodges the smart design of the coolant system on the van causes a low coolant condition to first starve the heater core of coolant before the level gets so low that you overheat and hurt your engine. Likely you will have to add coolant a few times before the system gets all the air out of the heater core and engine caused by letting it get low, so check a couple of times a day until the coolant level in the reservoir remains at the Max Fill line when checked a few different times. That will signal when the system has removed all the air from the coolant system.
