1996 Dodge Grand Caravan wipers continue to run after ignition is turned off. The only way to stop them is to disconnect the battery or unplug the wiper motor. The switch will turn on the wipers (after stopping them by disconnecting) but will not turn them off. The delay on the switch doesn't work but does have low speed and high speed control.

The multi- function switch (turn signal switch) Your wipers are control by this switch. This problem is very common on dodge and chrysler with this switch failing.

There is a short in the parking circuit of your wiper motor, which makes the wipers return to the laying down position. Replace the motor, buy recycled, much more cost effective.

I replaced my wiper motor on my 1996 grand caravan now it is running backwards? it stops at the top and if i put the bladesd down it will not cycle? did i get the wires backwards or something

it may be possible that the motor was installed backwards. to fix this turn the wipers on and off again when they stop at the usual place take the motor out and turn the whole assembly. and bolt it back in place and reconnect the wipers and try turning your wipers on. this should fix the problem. if not please advise me and i would be glad to help you further.

AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)

Ignition Coil A,B,C Primary/Secondary malfunction

Remove the Caravan Ignition Coil Step1 Look under the hood for a distributor. The spark plug wiresmag-glass_10x10.gif connect into the distributor cap. If you don't see a distributor, you may have a model with a distributorless ignition system. Step2 Find the ignition coil. On a Dodge Caravan, the ignition coil is at the back of the intake manifold. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent injury while you work. Step3 Determine whether you need to remove the windshield wiper/motor module assembly. This won't be necessary on all models. Step4 Disengage the connector securing the wiring harness connector to the Dodge Caravan ignition coil. Then, disconnect the ignition wire from the ignition coil. Step5 Use a socket set to remove the mounting bolts. There are upper and lower mounting bolts. Separate the ignition coil from the mounting bracket. Install the New Ignition Coil Step1 Insert the new ignition coil. Mount the Dodge Caravan ignition coil to the mounting bracket. Step2 Attach the mounted assembly to the intake manifold. With a Torque wrench, tighten the fasteners securing the ignition coil to the mounting bracket with 96 inch pounds of torque (10 Nm). Step3 Tighten the bolts that secure the intake manifold to the bracket with 115 inch pounds of torque (13 Nm). Step4 Connect the wire harness and any other parts you removed, including the negative battery cable.
